beepsbleepsandsqueeks 10.0
Update: 2009-02-16
Description

Here's the third in our series of mixes dedicated to beepsbleepsandsqueeks favourite artists, cities and labels. As reaching the 10th episode is a bit of a landmark, we thought we’d celebrate by bringing you a mix of tracks from probably our favourite label in the world right now, the simply incredible DFA.
Since the labels inception in 2001 and the release of it’s first record (The Rapture’s House Of Jealous Lovers), DFA has continued to grow steadily, producing 12” and album releases from their ever-increasing and diversifying roster of artists. The influence of bands like Talking Heads, Liquid Liquid, ESG, and Blondie can be heard throughout the DFA catalogue and as was the case with this original post-punk movement, their music would have felt equally at home whether at CBGBs or the Paradise Garage. From the punk-funk of LCD Soundsystem to the straight edged techno of Juan McLean and the numerous DFA related remixes for artists such as Gorillaz, Arthur Russel and Justin Timberlake, DFA contues to set the standard.
We hope you enjoy this small taste of a supreme label.
