Description

Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province is facing a surge in violence as attacks by the Pakistani Taliban, also known as Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), intensify along the Afghan border. More than 150 fighters have been killed in recent security raids, yet fear persists among residents. In Swat district, a survivor described losing seventeen family members over two decades of militant persecution. He narrowly escaped an IED blast near his home in November. Despite repeated military operations, he says the threat has never fully disappeared. Daily life is defined by warnings, restrictions, and fear, with even work, school, and hospital visits feeling unsafe. Residents say only a genuine peace deal or decisive action can end the cycle of violence.
