Description

Since 1963, UK police have been conducting research on the public interest benefit of out of court disposals. Recent work by the Cambridge Institute of Criminology’s Jerry Lee Centre has accelerated the policy discussion about using conditional cautions and deferred prosecution with both adult and juvenile offenders of low and medium risk. This seminar reviews the half-century of research findings and the recent policy proposals by the government, in the context of budget cuts to police, courts and corrections.
