這個故事透過佛印禪師與蘇東坡的互動，巧妙地提醒我們：修行的品質不在於口舌的巧妙，而在於心的狀態。
禪師心中以佛心觀人，因此看到他人皆是莊嚴；蘇東坡心中帶著牛糞般的執念與比較，因此看什麼都充滿污穢。故事告訴我們，外界如何變化並不重要，關鍵是我們的心如何對待世界。若能淨化心念，除去妄想、偏見、懶惰等「毒草」，我們便能以佛的智慧和平靜去面對生活。
This story of Chan Master Foyin and Scholar Su Dongpo teaches that true cultivation depends on the state of one’s mind, not clever words. If the heart is pure like the Buddha, one sees the world as majestic; if the mind is clouded by delusions, the world appears polluted. Our perceptions reflect our inner state. By removing harmful thoughts, attachments, and biases, we can perceive all beings and situations with clarity and compassion.
