民國53年國慶當天，天氣並是很理想，閱兵典禮中的空中分列式在通過總統府閱兵台時，一架F-104撞上了位於當今228公園內的中廣公司天線，在伴隨那架撞上天線的飛機返回基地時，另外兩架飛機卻互撞了，那兩架飛機的飛行員均以身殉。
