Encounter Church
Encounter Church was birthed in Pastor Hunter Howard’s heart in 2008 when, in a dream, Jesus told him that his main purpose in ministry was to “help people encounter Him.” After spending eight years as a missionary in Chihuahua, Mexico, Hunter married Liz, and they served together on the pastoral team and in missions at Heart for the World Church in Las Cruces, New Mexico. There they trained up young people to be leaders in the ministry. Encounter Church started in 2014 when Hunter and Liz Howard, plus a team of about 20 young people, moved across the country from Las Cruces to the Atlanta area, to plant a brand new church from scratch. They settled in Cobb County and quickly realized that God was calling them to reach the campus of Kennesaw State University. They started meeting in the Howards’ basement in May 2014, and in September, they officially opened services in a small building in Kennesaw. The church grew and had to relocate several times before purchasing a permanent home in 2020 - 3021 Rutledge Rd, in Kennesaw. Today Encounter Church hosts weekly services, prayer meetings, kids ministry, youth and college groups, community outreaches, a strong international missions ministry, a discipleship school, and a network of small Discipleship Groups, that meet in homes, on the KSU campus, and other places.

Bagwell Center Podcast
The mission of the Bagwell Center for the Study of Markets and Economic Opportunity (Bagwell Center) is to provide a platform for an interdisciplinary study of the importance of markets and economic institutions in regards to resource allocation, entrepreneurial activity, economic prosperity, and improved human welfare. The emphasis is on educating students about the foundations of market institutions and examining the related impact of government policy in a mixed economy, through extracurricular outreach activities such as guest lectures, film screenings, and workshops. The primary objective of the Bagwell Center is to make Kennesaw State University (KSU) students (and other interested individuals from the broader community) aware of the critical relations between free-market institutions, individual choice, and realized economic outcomes (for both individuals and society as a whole). Acquiring an understanding of these issues is critical for someone to become an educated citizen who can ultimately have a constructive impact on influencing or formulating public policy for the benefit of the community.

KSU Freshman Convocation and Induction Ceremony
The event looks a little like graduation. There is an academic procession of faculty dressed in academic regalia (caps and gowns), a tradition that goes back to the 12th century when scholars were clerics. New students learn from the university’s top administrators and others about the importance of a college education, some responsibilities of an educated individual, the meaning of becoming a Kennesaw State University student, and the value of a degree from Kennesaw State University. New students are officially inducted into their graduating class by President Daniel S. Papp. Other than the commencement ceremony four years from now, this may be the only large gathering of students to be addressed by the university president; provost and vice president of academic affairs (Kennesaw State University’s chief academic officer); vice president of student success and enrollment services; associate vice president for academic affairs and dean of University College; associate dean of University College; and chair of the Department of First-Year Programs.
