Another dream guest on the podcast today! Dan Purcell is a "sexpert", software developer, and dad of six, married to the amazing Emily Purcell. Together, Dan & Emily created the "Get Your Marriage On!" blog, where they share what they've learned in their own marriage about sex, to help couples have more fulfilling relationships. Dan hosts a podcast of his own ("Get Your Marriage On!") AND created an incredible app called "Intimately Us" chockfull of resources, games, articles, and tips for improving your sex life with a clean & fun, but informative lens. Today, Joe and I ask Dan all of our questions about sex, including how to juggle sex with young kids, how to create more intimacy with your spouse, how to learn about sex together in a safe environment, and how to increase desire for sex when things like pregnancy, pain with sex, chronic illness, or desire discrepancy get in the way.  Trust me when I say, you will want to take notes! Visit our Show Notes @ progressprompts.com for the tips that stood out to me, plus links to a load of helpful, free, & fun advice from Dan and his team, and find Dan @ getyourmarriageon.com . If letting go of what you can't control brings so much peace, then why is it so hard to do?! Today I asked Joe to share the secret of his easy-going nature. We chat about focusing your energy where it matters most, being busy for the wrong reasons, and what "control" really means to us. We'd love your tips for letting go, too! Let us know @progressprompts on Instagram or @ progressprompts.com . Thank you for being here! --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/progress-prompts/message
Today Joe and I wax religious! We chat about how we stay rooted in our personal relationships with God rather than tuning into the external chatter - which there seems to be a lot of these days. I don't know if you've felt this one as much as we have, but if so, we'd love to hear your thoughts. Let us know @ progressprompts.com or @progressprompts on Instagram. Thank you so much for being here! --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/progress-prompts/message
Today's prompt comes with options ;)  Option 1: What is your most ridiculous fear? / Option 2: What is a fear that you have overcome and how? Listen in as we use humor to face our fears, and share yours if you're feeling brave @ progressprompts.com or @progressprompts on Instagram. Something I'm working on this month is handling my kids' big feelings. I share 4 principles that I've learned for feeling your feelings rather than feeding them, but I'd love your tips for helping our kids handle big emotions, too. It's definitely a struggle in our home! Listen in and let us know your thoughts @ progressprompts.com and on Instagram @progressprompts. Today's prompt came as a request from our community, and I couldn't think of a better guest than my own mom. Sheri Gali is a Latter Day Saint mom of four kids, and a full-time nurse with a Bachelor's degree from Weber State University. She has been through 2 divorces, 8 miscarriages, and many other trials besides. I also know she isn't the only one who has gone through this often lonely, and life-changing experience. One of my goals with the podcast has always been transparency, and I think this topic could use a little more of just that. So listen in, and let us know your thoughts @progressprompts on Instagram or @ progressprompts.com . As a general rule of thumb, when the woman in your life needs a gift - a good default is chocolate, flowers/plants, or lotion (does anyone else love Bath & Body Works as much as I do?). But I struggle when it comes to the men in my life... because there is no default! In honor of Father's Day coming up this month, I am accepting your best and brightest ideas ;) And Joe is sharing some of his favorite gift ideas, too, so tune in. Anyone training for a summer race?? Joe and I are both coming off of injuries this season, so today we chat about how to tell the difference between a "good hurt" and a "bad hurt" ( #iykyk ). As a long-time trail runner, Joe has some really great tips, and, as always, we'd love to hear yours! Let us know @ progressprompts.com and @progressprompts on Instagram. If this were an episode of "Friends" it would be "The One About How I Quit Binge-Eating For Good". At least, that's me being hopeful. So, here's my messy progress for the month, and if you're cementing any new habits or working on your own health journey, I'd love to hear how it's going for you. You know what to do ;) . I teased Joe that today's prompt is 50% about improving my social life, and 50% about improving my daily #momlife . Either way, we share a few of our favorite ways you can create more connection with the people you love, and we'd love to hear your best tips & tricks, too! How have you changed over the years, and what would you want people from your past to know about the person you are today? Surprisingly, this one was tough for me, you guys! I learned a lot about the way I look at my own growth and identity - and it reminded me it's not a bad idea to stop and take stock once in a while :) Listen in for our thoughts and let us know yours @progressprompts on Instagram or @ progressprompts.com Thank you for being here! --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/progress-prompts/message
Taking on a loaded question today, for sure! With two caveats: #1: Is your answer actually within your circle of control? Often as parents we assume our job is to ensure our kids turn out a certain way... Well, we CAN control the tools we equip them with, the values we share, and how often we choose to connect with our children; but we CAN'T control who they turn out to be, what they do with the principles we teach them, or how they feel about us when push comes to shove. #2: Our answers are just that - our thoughts, specific to us and our situation. They don't negate yours, and we'd love to hear them! Let us know what you think over @progressprompts on Instagram or @ progressprompts.com . Okay, friends, what do you when you hit empty, but still have to be the adult? Today, Joe and I share a few of our best and brightest (LOL) ideas. As always, you know yourself and your kids better than anyone, so take it with a grain of salt, and let us know what you think over @progressprompts on Instagram or @ progressprompts.com . "That's something your past self would have happy with." When I heard that remark earlier this week I thought, that's absolutely true! Is that a good thing? How do we know when to raise the bar and challenge ourselves, versus when to find contentment and gratitude with what we've accomplished? Can we do both? Listen in for our thoughts and let us know yours @progressprompts on Instagram and @ https://progressprompts.com/ . Introducing a new bonus segment today! ..."Practice Makes Progress". At least once a month, I'll share one thing I'm working toward in my own personal growth, even (and especially) when I don't have it all figured out. This segment is all about pulling together in the mess, and having conversations about the process, not just the "solution" - because I honestly believe we are stronger together. Anti-racism is definitely one of those things, but just like we talked about in our latest episode (#47) I sincerely believe that the single greatest action that would change the world is being willing to listen to, and have more empathy for, each other's stories. And that's really all I get into today :) Listen in for my thoughts and share your own @progressprompts on Instagram and @ https://progressprompts.com/ . If you could speak to a large, diverse group of people (varying religious, cultural, and political affiliations, etc...) for 10 minutes and persuade them to bring about change, what one topic would you address, and what action would you encourage to help make the world a better place? Listen in for our thoughts and let us know yours @progressprompts on Instagram and @ https://progressprompts.com/ . Thank you for being here! --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/progress-prompts/message
If I'm gonna be honest, Joe is nicer than I would be about this one (haha!) - but I need to know... How do you handle unsolicited advice? Thank you for being here! --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/progress-prompts/message
Today's progress prompt: What is the difference between helpful vs. unhelpful positivity? I love a bright future as much as anyone, but I also need to be understood and loved where I'm at.  We'd love to know what you think. What is the difference between a positive outlook versus someone invalidating your hard or not hearing you? How can we be more empathetic toward each other and yet still help lift each other up? Listen in, and let us know your thoughts over at https://progressprompts.com/ or @progressprompts on Instagram. Thank you for being here! --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/progress-prompts/message
If what we say "yes" (and by extension "no") to determines the values that we put our time and energy toward, how do we know when we're saying "no" too much? or not enough? Let us know your thoughts over at https://progressprompts.com/ and @progressprompts on Instagram. Thank you for being here! <3 Jenny and Joe --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/progress-prompts/message
