In this episode, Roger Marsh (director of the National Fellowship of Raceway Ministries) interviews Mark Penticuff, director of Kansas City Alliance Raceway Ministries (KCARM), which provides ministry and outreach to race fans and others at Kansas Speedway.  For a variety of reasons, KCARM hit on some hard times, after several years of maintaining a very strong ministry presence at Kansas Speedway.  Leadership changes, transition of volunteers and support churches, and (of course) COVID contributed to a significant decline in the number of volunteers and supporters of the ministry.  Through it all, however, Mark Penticuff, with the assistance of a handful of others who continued to participate in the outreach, has been able to keep the ministry alive and put it on the road to thriving once again.  Dr. Marsh and Mark discuss some of the dynamics of how it all has unfolded!Insights into Effective Raceway Ministries work at Speedways across America
In this edition of "Raceway Ministries Today," NFRM Executive Director Roger Marsh interviews Allen Huffman, of Hickory, North Carolina.  Allen became a competitor with the South East Super Truck Series in 2023, and at the same time stepped in to fulfill duties as chaplain for the series.  Interestingly, Allen also won the championship for the series in 2023, while participating as both competitor and chaplain.  In this conversation, Roger Marsh talks with Allen about how he got into the series, how he became the chaplain for the series, and how the 2023 season transpired.  Allen describes how he was able to participate in both roles -- chaplain and racer.  He talks about the ups and downs of the season, how the challenges were overcome, and how he was able to minister to the series participants while racing with and against them throughout the 2023 season.Insights into Effective Raceway Ministries work at Speedways across America

Roger Marsh, executive director of the National Fellowship of Raceway Ministries, interviews Tim Bozarth of St. Louis, Missouri.  Tim currently serves as chaplain at Tri-Cities Speedway and Federated Auto Parts Speedway at I-55 -- both short tracks in the St. Louis area.  Tim also currently is serving as director of Gateway Racing Ministries, a newly created Raceway Ministries team that will be focusing on outreach to fans at World Wide Technology Raceway.  In this interview, Tim shares insights from his vast experience as a short track chaplain; discusses with Marsh the beginnings and future plans for ministry at World Wide Technology Raceway; and shares his excitement about serving once again this year as chaplain for the Gateway Dirt Nationals, slated for December 1 - 3 inside the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis.  Insights into Raceway Ministries up north in Minnesota and on the radio with Travis Kahlstorf's "On the Track" program
In this episode, Dr. Roger Marsh, director of the National Fellowship of Raceway Ministries interviews Jeff Sheffield, currently serving as chaplain at Southern National Motorsports Park in North Carolina.  In the dialogue, Sheffield shares how God changed his life following some medical issues, getting his attention and attracting him to do more to serve the Lord.  That resulted in his involvement as chaplain at two speedways in Georgia -- Lanier and Gresham Motorsports Park -- and several short tracks in Texas.  Last year, Jeff moved to North Carolina and immediately began serving at Southern National Motorsports Park, where he continues to provide chaplain services.  Through the years, Sheffield has accumulated lots of experience in ministry at short tracks, and as a result, has much to share in the way of stories, insights and advice.  In this episode, he and Dr. Marsh talk about all that, providing listeners with some significant information about what makes for effective short track chaplain ministry.  
As the 2022 racing season was about to begin in Wisconsin, Todd Christopherson gathered more than a dozen chaplains and Raceway Ministries workers for a time of fellowship, prayer, prioritizing, idea-swapping and brainstorming to make sure hearts and minds are prepared for sharing God's grace in Christ with racers and others at short tracks in the Badger State.  In this interview, National Fellowship of Raceway Ministries director Roger Marsh converses with Todd Christopherson about the purpose, content and dynamics of the "gathering of chaplains."  Christopherson himself is founder and director of Team Jesus Racing Ministries, and serves as chaplain at the Milwaukee Mile and Madison International Speedway, as well as providing chaplain services for several touring series in that region.  Marsh and Christopherson exchange lots of ideas and thoughts related to effective Raceway Ministries work, and they explore the value of getting chaplains and Raceway Ministries folks together for prayer and to encourage and sharpen one another. 
Roger Marsh, director of the National Fellowship of Raceway Ministries, interviews Brian Nagy, chaplain at Salina High Banks Speedway and Arrowhead Speedway, both in Oklahoma.  Nagy, who has been involved in Raceway Ministries work for over 20 years, shares how he began his relationship with God by faith in Jesus Christ, and then describes how God opened the door for him to begin Raceway Ministries work at Texas Motor Speedway in the year 2000.  As Marsh and Nagy dialogue, several experiences and lessons learned about Raceway Ministries work are shared -- lessons that are applicable at the super speedways, as well as qualities and characteristics that contribute to effective outreach at short tracks.  Listeners will gain insights into how to build effective relationships with motor sports people, relationships that can result in people coming to know Christ, and relationships that can result in great ministry opportunities at the speedways.

Auto Racing Outreach, founded and directed by Greg Berkey, has been providing chaplain ministry and fan outreach at racing venues and at various racing series for years all across North America.  In this podcast, Roger Marsh, director of the National Fellowship of Raceway Ministries, visits with Greg about his call to ministry, the beginnings of Auto Racing Outreach, and his experiences with chaplain work and fan outreach.  At the time of the podcast, Greg had just returned from a weekend of fan ministry at New Hampshire Motor Speedway during the summer 2021 NASCAR event.  Through the course of the conversation, Greg also shares plans for ARO for the remainder of 2021, shares ideas for how someone could best support the ministry, and talks about the value of connecting with other ministries by participating in organizations such as the National Fellowship of Raceway Ministries.  Greg also describes ministry that ARO is providing at Hickory Motor Speedway and Tri-County Speedway, and reveals some news about upcoming ARO sponsorship of a late model car driven by Allen Huffman at Hickory Motor Speedway.   
In this podcast, Dr. Roger Marsh, director of the National Fellowship of Raceway Ministries visits with Connie Yancey, director of Raceway Ministries, Atlanta.  As they converse, Connie shares how ministry went at the second NASCAR race weekend for 2021 at AMS.  Since the COVID-19 pandemic has been easing, camping, racing and ministry at AMS felt a bit more "normal", in contrast to the previous NASCAR weekend at the venue.  As revealed in the course of the interview, however, trends for the fan experience at the NASCAR track still seem to be in transition, prompting some consideration for changes in ministry strategy moving forward.  During the interview, Connie also shares some great examples of how ministry unfolded during the July 2021 NASCAR weekend at AMS, and she shares details about some creative appeals utilized on Face Book for recruiting volunteers.
In this podcast, National Fellowship of Raceway Ministries director Roger Marsh interviews Allen Huffman, Late Model Truck Racer in the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Series, about his journey to become a racer and director of an evangelistic ministry, NCN (New Creation Nation) Ministries.  Throughout the conversation, Huffman shares about how his racing career began with karting at age 5, and then moved to stock cars and eventually late model trucks.  A regular at his home track, Hickory Motor Speedway, through the years, Allen has achieved Rookie of the Year and also won two track championships -- 2018 & 2019.  Along the way, God got Allen's attention and helped him restructure his priorities to put his relationship with the Lord above his love for racing, placing a calling upon Allen's life to become a minister.  Now, in addition to racing, Allen directs NCN Ministries and travels to church camps, churches, raceways and other locations to share his testimony, preach and reach out to youth and others.  Much can be learned about racing, ministry and outreach by listening to Allen's story.SHOW LESS
As Charlotte Raceway Ministries begins their 2021 season of ministry at Charlotte Motor Speedway -- with the huge Memorial Day weekend of ARCA & NASCAR racing -- NFRM director Roger Marsh interviews CRM directors Jeff and Maria Murray.  Through the conversation, Dr. Marsh shares a little about the rich history of Charlotte Motor Speedway and Raceway Ministries' beginnings at that raceway, and then the Murray's share details about how their Memorial Day race weekend went.  Woven in and out of the conversation some great tips for effective Raceway Ministries work are discussed, including -- great ideas for good relations with speedway staff; creative and awesome ideas for outreach to race fans; and some excellent suggestions for recruiting, scheduling and organizing ministry volunteers.  Jeff and Maria, being new at serving in the position of directors for Charlotte Raceway Ministries, also provide some awesome insights into effective transition of leadership for Raceway Ministries teams, as they describe how they inherited their leadership position from some previously very effective and successful leaders of CRM.
Dr. Roger Marsh, director of the National Fellowship of Raceway Ministries, interviews Jim McBride, Jr., director of Delaware Raceway Ministries.  They share some history and facts about Dover International Speedway and Delaware Raceway Ministries, and then reflect upon the recent May 2021 ARCA / NASCAR weekend at Dover.  Having served at Dover International since 1993, Delaware Raceway Ministries' opportunity during this most recent race weekend was like no other.  On the heels of last year's very limited access because of the COVID pandemic, this year finds things moving somewhat toward what we used to call "normal."  McBride shares how In the midst of the ARCA / NASCAR weekend, the ministry discovered some new levels of opportunity in outreach, as well as a deepening of an already solid, trusting relationship with the staff at Dover International.  He gives some insights into how God provided the people to fulfill some last minute requests by the speedway, provides some significant advise about financial support for Raceway Ministries, and concludes with some top 3 suggestions for developing and implementing effective Raceway Ministries work.SHOW LESS
National Fellowship of Raceway Ministries director Roger Marsh interviews Mark Penticuff, of Springfield, Missouri.  Mark is founder and director of Crossroads Racing Ministry, which began as Mark stepped into the role of chaplain at a local dirt track.  Shortly thereafter, Mark began racing at that same track, and then stepped up to racing Late Models and serving as chaplain with the "Show-Me Series."  In the process, Mark began working with Kansas City Alliance Raceway Ministries, eventually becoming director of the ministry as they carry out their ministry at Kansas Speedway, on the Kansas side of KC.  Amazingly, in the midst of his busy life as a high school teacher and tennis coach, Mark and his family also have set their ministry focus on some neighborhoods of needy folks on the north side of Springfield, MO, where Mark is remodeling a house and a garage for the purpose of restoring muscle cars, repairing cars for donation to needy families, and to doing repair on vehicles to keep needy families on the go.  In this interview, Mark shares some incredibly important insights into effective ministry to racers at the short tracks and fans and others at major speedways, not to mention the value of reaching people in neighborhoods, far away from green and checkered flags.   
National Fellowship of Raceway Ministries director Roger Marsh interviews Billy Dickey, director of Alabama Raceway Ministries.  They talk about some of the history of the Talladega Super Speedway, as well as some of the historical developments of the NFRM as related to outreach at the famous Super Speedway.  Billy Dickey provides a detailed description of the expansive outreach at Talladega, that includes locations both on TSS property, as well as ministry at some of the privately owned camp grounds near the speedway.  Reference is made to the many outreach activities that have taken place during pre-COVID years with 200 - 275 volunteers in 8 campground locations, followed by Billy's description of how ministry at the recent Spring 2021 NASCAR race weekend greatly contrasted in terms of locations and number of volunteers.  Nevertheless, effective ministry took place, and plans are for things to continue returning to normal as Talladega and Alabama Raceway Ministries move toward the next NASCAR weekend in October.  
Executive Director of National Fellowship of Raceway Ministries, Dr. Roger Marsh,  interviews Tony Edwards, Chaplain at Boyd Raceway, in Boyd, Texas.  Throughout the conversation, Marsh and Edwards briefly talk about experiences during their years together in ministry at Texas Motor Speedway, and then get into detailed discussions about Edwards' experience as an auto mechanic and instructor, and what led him to get involved in Raceway Ministries work.  In the conversation, which follows a weekend of ministry at Boyd Raceway that Marsh attended with Tony, they talk about what makes for a healthy long-term relationship between chaplain and raceway staff, racers and fans (Edwards has been there for 20 years).  In addition, they discuss the need for and benefits of having a strong 'raceway ministries - local church' relationship.   In addition, references are made to the benefits of joint ministry efforts on the part of the local dirt track ministry, a local super-speedway ministry, and the National Fellowship of Raceway Ministries.  Anyone aspiring to be or currently involved as a local raceway chaplain will benefit from the responses of Tony Edwards to Roger Marsh in this podcast.
