SPECIAL EPISODE: We had a nice conversation with an old friend and prior boss, Dan Goldfarb. Dan has been investing in banks for almost four decades (yes, he is old). We worked together at a few prior firms and I think he is a great person to put the current banking issues into context. 

Have you heard of the term 'k-shaped recovery'? Well, Peter was the one that immortalized that term to describe the post pandemic shutdown economic recovery.Peter has a long history of being involved with the financial markets but changed his focus after the 2008 financial crisis and became a professor. His research focuses on confidence. Peter is an expert in how changes in confidence consistently and predictably impact our preferences, decisions and actions.Please note that this was recorded in the late fall of 2021. 

In the mid-90s, Peter and Will Halby and their wives, Ila and Vanessa, teamed up to create a non-profit with a mission of organizing specialty camps for the disabled themed around music, art, theatre and sports. We are fortunate to have Peter join us for this episode and introduce us to the great things they are doing.  

Bob exemplifies positivity and entrepreneurism.  A serial entrepreneur, Bob founded Agilathon, a technology consulting firm, and Extension Engine, which focuses on the digital transformation of the education space. Bob is driven by the idea of connecting good people with shared interests. This was a fun conversation for sure!

Greg teaches the capstone course Sustainable Innovation in Healthcare: Managing Continuous Improvements in Developing Products and Services. He is also Chief Medical and Information Officer at PRA Health Sciences, a leading pharmaceutical service, healthcare data and contract research firm. Previously, he was President and Chief Medical Officer at Castle Creek Pharmaceuticals, President of Rare Disease at Moderna Therapeutics, and had leadership roles at McKinsey & Co., Quintiles, Inc., Proteostasis, Amicus Therapeutics, Domain Associates and Medtronic Neurological. He was co-founder of Immunome Therapeutics. Greg has degrees from Harvard Business School, Yale School of Medicine, Columbia University, and Boston College. He trained at the Brigham and Women's, Children's, and Massachusetts General Hospitals. He is on non-profit advisory boards. Greg writes about innovation for Forbes.

Prior to co-founding Biomatics Capital Partners in 2016, Ms. Sunderland was director of Program Related Investments for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. She led the foundation’s $1.5 billion strategic investment pool, which focused on global health, global development and education. She funded 50 investments, including 30 in health care, and built a team of 10 investment professionals.Ms. Sunderland also chaired Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’s investment committee, which reviews all program-related investments. Prior to that role, she advised foundations, development finance institutions and governments on venture capital, SME financing and technical assistance programs. This week's guest is Michael Even.  Director of Strategy and Investment Research with FaithInvest.Mike is an investment professional with more than 35 years of industry experience. He was the Chairman of Man Numeric Investors in Boston, US, and a member of the Man Group Executive Committee. He worked for Citigroup for nine years, building a global asset management organization. After Citi merged with Travelers, he became global CIO of the Private Bank and then global CIO for, and co-head of, Citigroup Asset Management, overseeing investment teams running more than $500B in client assets.This episode will focus much of its time on the challenges of ESG investing and how different regions and faiths look at the future of investing for good.
