Description

Adult Puberty Podcast is for those of us who didn’t receive a silver spoon into adulthood and who dare to live authentic, unscripted lives. My name is Ebonie and I value self-development, or "the work" as I call it, in the areas of physical health, mental/emotional stability and spiritual maturity. I have experienced the transformative power of doing the work, so I want to empower and encourage you to embrace "the work" for the sole purpose of being the best version of yourself. Mountaintop experiences happen every so often. Does that mean we stop living or growing? Not at all! There’s so much untapped opportunity for personal growth in everyday living. You are not alone and we are all trying to figure it out, so I hope you hear something that makes you think, laugh, grow or seek God for your self.

Sometimes the struggles of being an adult and ordinary life can seem like the only thing going on. I for one, have wanted to just not participate in life as I say,  but then I’m reminded that life ebbs and flows, there is a bigger picture and I am a part of that bigger picture, no matter how crappy I feel. I noticed a pattern in my life that consisted of four seasons:Growing Season The Goal/Mountaintop Have (5) Seats The Valley In this episode I talk about each of the four seasons. If you need a little pick me up or encouragement to keep going, Check out this latest episode.
There aren’t many things that we all can say we need. Air, water, food and REST are the exception. We ALL need rest. I am sharing what I am learning on this journey to living a rest based lifestyle, Tips so that you can invite more rest into your life and how rest is so much more than sleep, it’s a mindset and a state of being. Interesting in trying somatics? I'm wrapping this up.
In part 2 of this real talk I get into what faith is like for me and what I've observed with the religions of the world.
In today's episode, I open up about what has been on my mind concerning my world perspective, what I believe the point of life is and how faith is not for the faint of heart.
My Aunt has  been a nun for 70 years. Many people have never known a nun let alone a black nun. I spent time with her on a recent visit to Cleveland, Ohio and wanted to share a snippet of a candid conversation we had. She drops some gems  on race, children, self love, kindness. and more. Just a lil something to break the monotony.....
My friend of 11 years tried to fight me and I'm here to talk about what led up to that moment and how I handled the situation in our first real talk of season 2.
Who wants to stay the same and deal with the same personal struggles year after year? Not us! So lean in to discomfort and embrace your own growing season!
Grief is personal. I don't have a "to do" list for grief but  in this episode I talk about how I had been avoiding grieving for two relationships and why Its healthy to process grief that may not be tied to the death of someone but rather because of some change in your life or the loss of a relationship, place or thing.
There's much controversy around the truth, what it is and what it is not, but you don't hear much about HOW to be truthful or HOW to accept the truth. We take it for granted that not everyone knows how to be truthful or how to accept the truth.  In this episode I get into 3 ways to practice telling the truth and 3 ideas you can implement to help you better accept the truth.
So... I was in my bag after I found this 20 year old poem that I wrote at age 25.  However! It's a great reminder whether for those of us who are single to  embrace this unique time of self love and self discovery.
Everyone at some point has had a moment where they did not control their emotions. If you were never taught how to control your emotions or even what that means you may be living in a prison of your emotions or Worse, you may be alienating and losing friends or loved ones because of your uncontrolled emotions. I give you (3) practical options to get you started in your practice of controlling your emotions.
We all are as different as snowflakes and those unique differences mean that we see, experience and feel the world and relationships very differently. Instead of trying to conform to a world that doesn't care how you are wired embrace how you are wired so that you can live the life you want to live.

Today I give the deets on why I was fired from my corporate job in the pharmaceutical industry with a major Pharma company (shhh) :-)  in January of this year, where I am today and a bit of encouragement to always protect the person you are at the core at all costs.
Today I celebrate my two year sober anniversary. For the first time publicly, I share my sober story in hopes to encourage those who may be new to sobriety or are thinking about being sober.
We have a wide range of emotions for a reason from elated to furious. The healthiest thing we can do as individuals is to not dismiss our feelings for the purpose of trying to force ourselves to feel something that we don't in that moment. The best thing we can do for the people in our lives that we care about is to give them the empathy and space to feel their emotions and not be dismissive by responding with toxic positivity as if negative emotions are not a part of the human experience.
It seems like people give out unsolicited opinions like candy on Halloween. This week we talk about why most unsolicited opinions  are pointless, why some people are affected more than others and learn how  take back the power that seems to be held in the unsolicited opinions of others.
