The Tale of Peter Rabbit is a beloved children’s book written and illustrated by Beatrix Potter. The story follows the mischievous young rabbit named Peter Rabbit as he ventures into the garden of Mr. McGregor. Despite his mother’s warning, Peter disobeys and gets into trouble. The tale was originally written for a 5-year-old boy named Noel Moore, the son of Potter’s former governess. It was privately printed in 1901 after several rejections from publishers but was later published in a trade edition by Frederick Warne & Co. in 1902. "The Gift of the Magi" is a short story by O. Henry first published in 1905. The story tells of a young husband and wife and how they deal with the challenge of buying secret Christmas gifts for each other with very little money. As a sentimental story with a moral lesson about gift-giving, it has been popular for adaptation, especially for presentation at Christmas time. The plot and its twist ending are well known; the ending is generally considered an example of cosmic irony. The story was allegedly written at Pete's Tavern[2] on Irving Place in New York City.The story was initially published in The New York Sunday World under the title "Gifts of the Magi" on December 10, 1905. In this episode we feature a classic story from James Baldwin, "Why He Carried the Turkey", which details good heart of John Marshall, (September 24, 1755 – July 6, 1835) an American politician and lawyer who served as the fourth Chief Justice of the United States from 1801 to 1835. Marshall remains the longest-serving chief justice and fourth-longest serving justice in Supreme Court history, and he is widely regarded as one of the most influential justices to ever sit on the Supreme Court. Read by Myron Hieronymous Thomas.

In this episode we share the story of The Three Little Pigs. The Three Little Pigs" is a fable about three pigs who build their houses of different materials. A Big Bad Wolf blows down the first two pigs' houses which are made of straw and sticks respectively but is unable to destroy the third pig's house that is made of bricks. The printed versions of this fable date back to the 1840s, but the story is thought to be much older. This version comes from a 1922 adaptation by Flora Annie Steel. The illustration is by L. Leslie Brooke from the 1904 version.  Read by Myron Hieronymous Thomas.

 This version of The Three Bears was adapted and illustrated by W.W. Denslow (1856-1915) and published by G.W. Dillingham Co, of New York in 1903. It is part of the rare book collection of the Library of Congress.   Adapted from the original story  written by Robert Southey and first published in 1837 in a collection of his essays and stories.This version of the classic tale of the three bears has a heroine named Golden Hair. The jolly bears, instead of chasing her away from their home, come to live with her at Grandmother’s house. Read by Myron Hieronymous Thomas.

Jack and the Beanstalk first appeared as The Story of Jack Spriggins and the Enchanted Bean in 1734. This version is from the 1918 edition of English Fairy Tales retold by Flora Annie Steel. Read by Myron Hieronymous Thomas.
