"It's been a slow progression and I just have to keep reminding myself, I have so much shit that's been buried within because I didn't deal with that for 35 years. I have to slowly unpeel the layers back and not feeling shame or guilt around putting myself in this position because sometimes people can think, well, God, I just put myself into position. It's funny when we start to listen to the conversations we have with ourselves and how cruel we can be with ourselves. And it's just in just being gentle with ourselves and noticing the thought and letting it go and being okay." "Most of the time when people are in my sphere, you know, they're basically having trouble with weight loss. They're struggling with symptoms such as they keep gaining weight, they can't lose weight or they're losing weight, gaining weight, losing weight, gaining weight. They can't sleep. Maybe they have trouble following sleep, Maybe they have trouble staying asleep or maybe they fall asleep just fine. But then wake up in the middle of the night between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. They have belly fat. They have extra fat on their back. They don't feel like themselves. They have no energy. Their snappy short fuse, low energy. They get energy dips throughout the day. Or maybe they wake up and they just feel very, very tired and they just can't seem to get a grip. And they just feel like their brain is chaos because they can't focus and there's just this nonstop noise going on in their brain. Right. Totally sucks. I've been there. And so that is a prime example of somebody that would need this assessment and they could really, really, really benefit from the assessment." "The worst thing we can do and people do this is to be antagonistic and fight and complain and argumentative with them about it, which people do, and then take that home and rant about it at Facebook groups and the spouse and then lash out their kids. Because here's what I'm going to say, is that you're the one losing. At the end of the day, it's not them, and you're only going to feel worse because guess what really got you sick in the first place probably is all the psychological stress you've had in your life and then you're just reinforcing it. So like it's always going to be about controlling you, which is really the overarching and the fulcrum of what I teach people. Because challenges and difficulty, whether it's this or something else, is not going to change. It's all about working on what's inside and not being reactive, being more reflective, all that stuff. It's hard skill set to develop, but we can do it. But that is the real teaching because that's what's going to keep you you know, to sustain the life you want and to weather the storm." "I really believe that we will always follow through with who we believe that we are and we'll never be able to do something that is inconsistent with our identity. So, if you don't believe you're the kind of person who would X, Y, Z, your brain's not even going to question if you can or not, because that's not who I am. So, whenever I'm working with someone, for example, I'm always making sure that whatever the changes I help create, whether it's from anxiety to confidence or whatever, the happiness, like whenever I help them get that result, we make sure that that becomes a part of their identity so that way it actually sticks long term." "At the end of the year, I always sit and I think, what am I most grateful for? And you know, what's crazy is I was most grateful for the worst moments. because I could see how I processed myself through them. And I could see such huge growth like, I could just see and it made me proud of how you had navigated them. And so, yeah, I really just think it's every single thought that I have. Is just let's uncover what this is, because when I can, then I can propel forward. I really can truly see everything that I uncover that feels uncomfortable is a way to move forward." "You have the ability to build your business in a way that is going to support your needs and we're just creatives, right? And so we love to learn, we love to create and so you have to have that support staff and such that that will allow that to happen. Which is such a beautiful thing to work for ourselves because we can build it out however it is that we want to fit in our life versus trying to fit a like a round peg into or square whatever, into a round hole or whatever that whole scene is. Because I know that when I was working for somebody else, that's how I felt every day was like, I feel I feel like I'm trying to fit into something that I know I don't belong in like it was death to my soul." "I was constantly moving from therapist to therapist while I was married, because I always thought I was the problem. And the therapist would be like, well, I mean, obviously you're not perfect, none of us are but in this scenario, you have to make a decision. You either accept his behaviors and live the rest of your life like this, or you just like walk away. And there was so many times that therapists, we would literally end after that because I wasn't ready to make that decision." "I work with a lot of women. Typically they are over 35, usually closer to 40. They are starting to feel the consequences of a lot of their choices from when they were in their twenties. For example, when I was in my 20's I was constantly exercising! I would literally exercise 3x a day and eat a potato. Not knowing that I would be paying the price later on. So we tend to have these behaviors and way of operating and we think that that is the way to go when in fact all we're doing is creating a much bigger problems for later. Often times people have adrenal dysfunction. They don't recognize it because they don't know how bad they feel and some of the symptoms to look for. People have digestive issues…only going to the bathroom once a week. That is not normal. They are tired, but they they don't know how tired they truly are. When we become a certain age, for example, like menopausal women are definitely the type a type of woman that I work with as well. I mean, I'm 50 years old, right? And I'm perimenopausal. So menopause, premenopausal women, people who have PCOS, any thing that really involves hormones. But also, as you'll hear in this episode, I talk about how the mind is such a large part of what I do as well, because if we don't change things within that subconscious mind. It is imperative that I help you to recognize your operating system and belief systems because if you don't, then you are always going to continue to do the same thing over and over and over again. And I help you to really bring that to the forefront so that you can rewire your brain and create a whole new reality. There's a lot to it and I love it!" In this episode of Master Your Mindset and Metabolism, listen in as Kelly discusses the art of her practice. How being a coach is not about calories and exercise. It is her magical ability to help you achieve and maintain a good balance between 3 of your body's systems. Your nervous system, your endocrine system, and your autonomic system. She shares how it is possible to cultivate practices that are sustainable to live a long and healthy life. "I remember back then I developed a nervous tummy and would puke bile in the mornings. When it came time to get ready for school, I was a nervous wreck all the time, and I remember that time my mom even took me to the doctor. It was just it was just an awful, awful time and my sister and I, we would actually talk about that a little bit. And the doctor had to do something very uncomfortable and he said, I'm sorry, I have to do this and we still talk about that like, why was that even necessary? I don't know, it's just weird. So, the nervous stomach really became a huge problem when I was around eight years old. And it's interesting now that I understand the nervous system and resilience and the way that we are able to handle certain situations and how fragile we really are. It's these past experiences that created some behaviours and habits that led through my later years." In this episode of Master Your Mindset and Metabolism, listen in as Kelly shares her childhood experience in a difficult and challenging environment and how she overcame the struggles to find self-acceptance and peace. "The accountability and the humility, you know, the humility then brings on the courage. It's so incredibly important. You may be just thinking, okay, I want to start making changes here. And I think the most important thing is coming into this space of there is no judgment here. There is none whatsoever, like meeting people where they are and helping them along. And that's that, because there are things that we don't want to give up." "Doing some resistance training is going to be super, super, super beneficial in so many ways. And when I say resistance training, it doesn't mean lifting heavy weights, although in my opinion, lifting heavy is ideal but for most people, that's not where they're at. For a lot of people, it's like, Hey, let's just get you fucking started with moving using your own body weight, right? And then we can always add in some weights from that point so it also again, this is the biggest point that I want to share here is that our goal is to preserve muscle. We want to preserve muscle, especially as we are maturing and age. You guys, it is so important to preserve the muscle so it's not about how many calories you're burning. It's not about that. It's about preserving your muscle while you're able to burn fat. All right, this is the goal. We want to have good body composition." In this episode of Master Your Mindset and Metabolism, listen in as I discuss how you can mitigate reduction of muscle mass by boosting your metabolism and enjoy a healthier lifestyle. "What this is all about, is to help you to find that balance and to help you to really be in a place of giving yourself some grace and knowing that you can have it all. Like, you don't have to choose. You don't have to have that feeling of, okay, I got to be good or bad. So, I want you to ask yourself this question. How would your life change if you felt more comfortable with your food choices, not having the guilt, the all or nothing mindset, or feeling like you have to choose being good or bad? How would your life change? I know for me it was like the biggest ticket to freedom. Once I finally figured that out, once I finally got to a place of contentment and feeling like, Yeah, I can do this, I can have that balance. It's no big deal." "Balance, I think, is such a difficult thing for people to achieve because there are so much of this all or nothing mindset. So, there's this, you know, if I eat this, I'm bad or if I have that, I'm good, right and then we have this way of thinking and then we feel like we're sinking and then we feel like we're on top of the world. And then it's just this emotional rollercoaster but I promise you that you can have balance, that you can have all the things…you can have a social life without feeling guilt and shame. The next day you can have a glass of wine without having the thought of I was bad. You can have a cookie, it is okay. All of it is okay. It's just you have to get to the point where it's like, okay, I can balance all this. I can definitely have my cake and eat it too, per se, right? It's just all about the balance." "I do a form of bodywork and I push on people's bodies. It's kind of a mix between acupressure and reflexology. And depending on where you are, that sore or tender or have pain, it refers to a different organ in the body. So if the anterior deltoid. So I'll give you one quick story. Like I had a client who could have one arm go straight up and the other arm kind of was crooked way. He could barely get it up over his forehead. And he was a contractor and so he's like, I have to carry these panels all day long. And we're kind of doing an intake. And I'm like, Okay, well, have you had any major illnesses or diseases or anything? And I know that anterior deltoid refers to the gall bladder. So like that's in my training, I learned that. And so in my head, I'm hearing my mentor tell me my gallbladder like I'm getting the hits for gallbladder. And he goes, Yeah, like nine months ago I had my gallbladder removed. So it's this indication that our organs relate to our muscles and that's what then causes pain." "You have got to manage your stress levels and recognize what stress is. It's not just, Oh, I'm driving on the street and this guy cut me off. It's thinking the thoughts and the thinking that you have. Are you worried about money? Are you worried about what you said to Sally? Are you worried about going to work tomorrow? Are you worried about I mean, there are all kinds of shit we have in our head that we really need to clear ourselves of, you know, past traumas even, you know, that's a big one. "The body is designed to do two things. It's designed to survive so that it can reproduce. That's all it cares about. So it is constantly doing like internal data on itself to make sure that everything is right. So this skin suit that we are living in is designed to do just that.
