This season the Make Work Human Podcast, Jen Baggett, and I are talking about the Three Elements of Team Dynamics through the lens of human behavior and helping you stop expecting YOU from other people. In this week's episode, we start to break down the first of the Three Elements, communication, by looking at all the ways that people can misunderstand each other - and how it's never intentional. It's a massive asset to describe your communication style to others so that they know what to expect. However, many of us don't know how to communicate in words (funny how that works). Learning how to share your style with others is invaluable.
Raise your hand if you know that everyone has different work styles. Now raise the other hand if you still get frustrated when people don’t work like you. Woohoo – we all have our hands in the air! 🙌 The Make Work Human Podcast is BACK, baby! This season is all about Stop Expecting YOU from Other People. Jen Baggett, and I will be breaking down three main themes that deeply impact team cohesion and how we interact with others at work. The three main themes are: Communication Action Taking Decision Making We’ll be using the lens of human behavior in simplifying how to identify your style, and more importantly, how that interacts with other people’s style.

In this episode, we go deeper into self-awareness which is the first step of emotional intelligence. Introducing emotional awareness, self-assessment, and self-confidence as the three main parts.  Sharing strategies to increase your self-awareness.  We even share a bit about how our bodies hold clues to the future.

We talk all about what it is, how it helps, and introduce the four-part structure that we'll dig into deeper throughout the series. Jen and Larissa are self-proclaimed assessment aficionados. In this episode, they share all about the tools, assessments, and resources they use and recommend to help you learn to love vulnerability.
In this episode, we interview Aaronde Creighton who is an executive coach and leadership consultant and a trained Brene Brown's Dare to Lead facilitator. He shares with us his thoughts on vulnerability, and why it's necessary to have hard conversations. We talk about diversity, inclusion, and belonging and how we need to go deep within ourselves do the work that's needed in the world. Showing up bravely as leaders will be what it takes to make an impact. All about Aaronde: My goal in life is to live seamlessly without compartmentalization. What the heck does that mean? I bring my whole self to work each and every day…husband, father, mentor, trafficking abolitionist and practical joker. This approach allows me to give all of who I am to my clients and community, which brings great results to clients and is fulfilling for me personally. I love working with great people, clients, and teams who are committed to common goals, not individual achievements and accolades.
In this third episode in the vulnerability series, we get down to how you can take action and create a positive impact on your organization using the power of vulnerability. We talk about leaders, teams, and organizations that are using this well and give you examples of how to bring them into your organization. Where theory and story meet action.
In the second episode in the vulnerability series, we start breaking down what it is and what it isn't. We bust some myths about what it means to be vulnerable and start defining what professional vulnerability is.  SPOILER ALERT: It's not sharing your deepest darkest secrets with everyone at work.
This episode kicks off a six-part series on vulnerability. What it is. What it isn't. And how to make it work at work.  In this episode Jen and Larissa talk about Brene Brown's enlightening book Dare to Lead and discuss how vulnerability can impact you, your team, and our organization.

Raise your hand if you've ever pissed off anyone in your life. Raise the other if you had no idea how to clean it up, so you ignored it and hoped it would just get better. Whether we intend to or not, our actions can hurt the people in our lives. And it's up to us to clean it up. In this week's episode, we talk all about intent and impact. We share the key to cleaning it up when we've gone and made a mess of things without meaning to - and there is no empty "I'm sorry" involved. Do you think a simple apology is enough - or do you go deeper when addressing your breakdowns with others?
Are you trying to be somebody's everything? Are you exhausted by it yet? To become well-rounded, we have to own our human characteristics - the ones we like and those we don't. Equally. Our development never ends either. It is a lifelong process and is not only rewarding but can be super fun too. This is just a fraction of the insight and laughs we have with the one and only James "Saywhatsales" Buckley on this week's episode of Make Work Human Podcast. We all laughed so hard we couldn't breathe in most of this episode - and if you know James, you can only imagine the fun we had with him. James shares his incredibly inspiring story of perseverance and triumph over some huge obstacles - and how he helps others do the same. You'll laugh. You'll cry. You'll laugh until you cry. And you will feel incredibly human. We are all works in progress. Messy Evolving Imperfect And it's time we stop hiding it. Drop the mask, and admit that none of us have all the answers. This is the utter human brilliance of Jordana Zeldin and her story of how she transformed how she lived, worked, and ran her business. She is a walking, breathing inspiration and an incredible sales coach who guides others to use their humanity to service clients. When we give ourselves permission to own that we have no idea what we're doing, we permit others to do the same. This is one tiny sliver of the depth of topics we discuss on this week's Make Work Human Podcast. Damit. I did it again. I forgot to send that email. GAHHHH - why am I like this??? Cue the throngs of inner mean girls coming to tell me just how awful I am and how I'm terrible at everything in life. Can you relate? Sometimes it's the littlest things that can send us into the spiraling vortex of doom. In this week's episode of Make Work Human Podcast, we get real and raw about our own shame and anxiety spirals - and how we deal with them. And it's not always super healthy - but it's real.

Are you guilty of the fly-by dive bomb check-in? You know, when you pop by your people's office or randomly call them to ask them what they're working on. Your intentions may be supportive, but the impact is far from it. Especially in a year when everyone is hypersensitive to feeling like they don't know what they're doing and that they're not doing enough. In this episode, we talk about the upcoming one-year mark of living at work and how it has caused some fatigue. We also share some ways to help alleviate that fatigue - including laying on the floor between meetings. Hey, don't knock it until you try it.
