EPISODE 66 — “Co-Regulation: The Art of Healing Together” Healing doesn’t happen in isolation — it happens in connection. In this episode, Moniquea explores the sacred science of co-regulation and how human connection reshapes the nervous system, rewires safety, and helps us transcend the patterns of survival. Through gentle teaching, personal reflection, and guided somatic practices, you’ll discover how presence, attunement, and relational safety create the conditions for deep healing.Because when one nervous system meets another in calm awareness, biology becomes belonging — and we remember that we were never meant to heal alone. Where science, story, and soul unite — this is the original Transcending Trauma.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Transcendence: Beyond SurvivalIn Episode 65 Moniquea explores what it means to move beyond survival and step into the deeper work of integration and expansion. Trauma can shape our biology and our beliefs about who we are. Yet within the body there is an innate blueprint for healing that is always calling us forward. This episode unpacks the true meaning of transcendence. Not as spiritual bypassing or rising above your story, but as the lived experience of weaving your past into a coherent and empowered present. Through the lens of the autonomic nervous system, somatic experiencing, early attachment, and parts work, Moniquea traces the arc from shock, collapse, and hypervigilance into grounded presence and embodied hope. She shares personal reflections from her own journey and the life changing moment that shifted her out of chronic survival and into the profound work of reclaiming her life. You will learn how survival states become identities, how the body stores unfinished protective responses, and how your system begins to open when it senses real safety. This episode offers gentle somatic practices, nervous system orienting skills, and a compassionate reframe that supports you to move from coping toward genuine transformation. It is a reminder that your body holds both the imprint of what happened and the capacity to rise beyond it. Where science story and soul unite. This is Transcending Trauma. EPISODE 64 “The Return Coming Home to the Body” In this opening episode of Transcending Trauma you are invited into the gentle yet powerful process of returning to your body after experiences that may have pushed you into survival mode. This is a slow reawakening. A homecoming to the wisdom that has always lived beneath the surface. Moniquea explores what it truly means to come home to yourself through the lens of the autonomic nervous system, somatic experiencing, early attachment patterns, and the way trauma shapes our physiology and sense of belonging. She shares her personal reflection story of the moment life brought her to a full stop and how that turning point opened the doorway to deeper embodiment and purpose. You will learn how the body signals safety, how survival states can become long standing patterns, and why returning to sensation is the foundation of healing. This episode weaves psych education, gentle nervous system support, and a grounded narrative that reminds you that your body is not the enemy. It is the compass guiding you forward. Moniquea also guides you through simple somatic practices to reconnect with presence, soften bracing patterns, and cultivate inner steadiness that can hold your healing journey. This episode is an invitation to slow down, breathe into your truth, and remember that healing happens when we make our way back to the body. Where science story and soul unite. This is the original Transcending Trauma. Creating Trauma Informed Prisons and Communities Throughout the World.Compassion Prison Project began as the brainchild of award-winning producer Fritzi Horstman, whose own childhood trauma helped shape its conception. Over the course of several months in 2019-2020, Fritzi and a dedicated team of facilitators and volunteers partnered with incarcerated men at a Kern Valley State Prison (KVSP), a maximum-security prison in Central California.
