Despite endometriosis affecting 1 in 10 women, awareness surrounding it is still very poor. The condition causes cells similar to the lining of the womb to grow elsewhere in the body, with varying symptoms like debilitating pain, fatigue, low mood, heavy periods and pain when you go to the toilet amongst others. Antonia, Rebecca and Emmy explore the perception of pain, medical misogyny, the lack of research into women’s health issues, and the worrying stat that diagnosis time for endometriosis is still 8 years and 10 months on average. This debilitating condition can have severe impacts on the retention of staff and wellbeing.
