Jono is a member of Delta Running Project and has personal bests of 15:18 in the 5k, 31:45 in the 10k, 1:10:11 in the half, and now a brand new PB of 2:27:55 in the marathon, which he ran at the Ballarat Marathon. We recap the race and discuss the training that led up to the result. Dom and Luke also discuss their own races — the Newcastle Half (75:01) and the Ballarat Marathon (2:43:47).
This week we were joined by Leo Peterson. We last caught up with Leo three years ago in Episode 19, just after he broke 30 minutes for the first time—and since then, he’s gone on to represent Australia multiple times, including at the 2022 Mountain & Trail Running Champs in Thailand, where he placed 40th in the up-down race, and in 2023 in Austria, placing 80th. In 2024, he shifted focus to the Golden Trail Series, winning the national series and earning a spot at the world final in Switzerland.
In this episode, we recapped the recent Port Macquarie Running Festival with fellow delta runners Matt Ho (1:10.15 Half Marathon), Jonathan Muncey (1:10.11 Half Marathon) and Chris Gatt (2:20.32 - Treble)
In this episode, we catch up with Sydney-based distance runner Kieren Tall, who has returned to racing after a long recovery from a serious injury. When we last had Kieren on the show in 2022, he was competing at a high level with personal bests of 28:47 in the 10K and 13:50 in the 5K. Soon after, he was diagnosed with compartment syndrome and popliteal artery entrapment syndrome, a very rare injury which forced him to step away from running completely and threatened the basic function of his legs. His recovery started with relearning how to walk before gradually building back to training. In our discussion we dive into what it took—both physically and mentally—to get back, his approach to training now compared to before the injury, and how his mindset has evolved after such a long road. We also break down some of Kieren’s races since his return, including Bay to Bay, Sydney Harbour 10K and the Sydney Marathon 10K.Sponsors:Relic Running provide epic modular medal holders for runners and athletes.
