Sherri Wright-Schwietz - my new (self-proclaimed) bestie joins me on today's episode! Sherri is a 51 year old Calgarian, a VP for ATP wealth, a mama, lover of humans and fellow diet culture rebel. At a recent leadership event I attended, Sherri spoke about success. In particular, the beliefs we have - especially as women - of what success looks like. This of course includes size, shape, and all things appearance. In the episode, we chat about: Sherri's childhood imprints of what a woman's body "should" look like The loss of two organs in the pursuit of thinness What it means to "look good, feel good" What we are made to believe success looks like, vs what it actually looks like The lies we are told as women that lead to this confusion Advice she would give her younger self (and all of you) Sherri is one of the most beautiful humans I have had the pleasure of meeting and I am so grateful to get to share her with you! Jaime Morgan joins me today to share about a new layer of healing untouched on the LYN podcast - healing from the loss of interpersonal romantic relationships. Jaime and I met at a networking event where we connected over our histories of struggling with food. I was so curious to hear more about her line of work, and how certain challenges (particularly control) manifest in both romantic relationships and relationships with food. We chat about: Why we try to control our relationships & relationship outcomes The connection between controlling her relationship and Jaime's eating disorders How she healed after the divorce from her spouse of 15 years The biggest barriers that hold people back from finding all forms of healing Jaime's signature 4 step blueprint to letting go So often we think of our relationships with others as independent from our relationships with ourselves, but the healing goes hand-in-hand and looks very similar so for those of you on any healing journey - body image, food, self-love, divorce, etc. - this episode will feel like such a warm hug! We chat about: Kelsey's dieting history Her journey to recovery from Binge Eating Disorder Why losing weight didn't heal her body image The importance of having a strong support system Red flags of diet culture How to start cultivating a sense of self love Kelsey is such a joy of a human, I know you will love her as much as I do! Merry Christmas!! I hope you all had the most magical holiday season. I know this time of year tends to be tricky for many, as it is filled with challenging family dynamics, glutinous food and often feelings of guilt for over indulging. I want to remind you that food is more than just fuel. Food is emotion, and memories, and enjoyment. It is okay if you allowed it to serve that purpose for you. As we approach 2024, I would invite you to reflect on your relationship with food, and how long you may have been trying to figure it out on your own. One of the most beautiful gifts you could give yourself this season is the gift of healing. The next cohort for my group coaching program - Food Freedom Collective - is coming January 2024! This program was designed to teach you healthy nutrition habits, help you transform your food mindset, heal your relationship with food, and improve your body image. I have loads of questions all the time about how to improve body image, self-esteem, confidence...all the things body! There is no denying that the holiday season tends to be a major trigger for this. Living with an eating disorder and disordered eating for over a decade made it incredibly difficult to overcome the feelings of resentment I felt towards my body when it would change. It also made it difficult to not feel like a failure if I wasn't "seeing progress". If you resonate with any of this, you will want to tune in!
