Centering is the practice of moving from the core or center of the body outward. It is the fourth Pilates principle and a general principle of efficient movement. It is also a principle that we can choose to implement outside of our Pilates practice to guide us in making more embodied choices and to lead our lives with greater awareness and conviction.
Control is the third Pilates principle. Although there is so much in life we can’t control, there is so much within ourselves that we can control. Learn how to use your mind to better control your body and to use your body to better control your mind.
Concentration is the second Pilates principle. "Energy flows where attention goes." This is true in life and in your body. Learn why concentration is an integral part of your mindful movement practice -- and how it can help improve life outside of your practice.
