They were on their back when a speeding BMW crashed into the two-wheeler, throwing Pradik and Kaveri into the air. Pradeep fell on the ground, but Kaveri was dragged by the car. She was rushed to the hospital, but it was too late. 3. Mr Thackeray met the victim's husband at a police station in Mumbai and demanded that the accused driver be arrested. Six terrorists were killed in two separate encounters in the Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir. The encounters, which began on Saturday, also claimed the lives of two soldiers, including a para-trooper, while another soldier sustained injuries, police said. 1. In a brazen attack, the Tamil Nadu chief of the Bahujan Samaj Party was hacked to death by six bike-borne men near his house in Chennai on Friday. According to the police, eight individuals have been taken under custody in connection with the attack. 2. Eight suspects in the case were nabbed within three hours of the crime on Friday, City Police Commissioner Sandeep Rai Rathore told reporters here. The city Police on Saturday said the killing of Tamil Nadu BSP chief K Armstrong by a group of assailants was not political and that all angles were being probed. 3. After 121 people were killed in a deadly stampede at his satsang in Uttar Pradesh's Hathras earlier this week, Bhole Baba, the former constable-turned-self-styled godman, has said that he was deeply saddened by the incident. 4. Reiterating its stand on the NEET-UG controversy, the Centre has told the Supreme Court that it does not intend to scrap the examination and hold a retest. It has also emphasised that there were no large-scale irregularities in the exam, in which 24 lakh students appeared.

Self-styled godman 'Bhole Baba' aka Narayan Saakar Hari is likely to be arrested soon after more than 100 people died in a stampede at his 'satsang' (religious congregation) in Uttar Pradesh's Hathras. 'Bhole Baba', whose original name is Suraj Pal, is believed to be at his 'ashram' in Mainpuri, about 100 km from near the Phulrai village, where he held the doomed event attended by lakhs of devotees. Many senior police officials have reached the Hathras stampede site, while others are at his ashram, the Ram Kutir Charitable Trust. Besides police personnel, an NDTV team at the ashram also saw his followers gathering in large numbers. 2. The stampede in Uttar Pradesh's Hathras that killed 121 people was triggered by a mad rush for dust. Men, women and children fell over each other, getting crushed, just to collect dust stirred up by the car of a self-styled godman. The organisers' laxity and inadequate police force contributed to the tragedy. The stampede took place at a 'satsang' addressed by self-styled godman Suraj Pal aka Narayan Saakar Hari, whose followers called him Bhole Baba. According to the FIR, the organisers of the 'satsang' sought permission for a gathering of 80,000-odd people, but a crowd of over 2.5 lakh turned up. 3. The Rajya Sabha will resume its proceedings today, a day after the Lok Sabha was adjourned sine die following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's reply to the 18-hour-long debate on the Motion of Thanks on the President's address. PM Modi will likely address the Rajya Sabha today after the parliament witnessed the government and the opposition go head-to-head in a debate. Lok Sabha witnessed unprecedented chaos as the prime minister was seen shouting while Opposition MPs screamed to drown out his voice. 1. After days of uncertainty over the Lok Sabha Speaker's post, the NDA has decided to nominate Om Birla for the post again. BJP's Om Birla was the Speaker in the previous Lok Sabha. Sources said that Mr Birla will file his nomination at 11.30 am today. The opposition INDIA bloc has fielded K Suresh against Mr Birla, the first time in decades elections will be held for the key post. A Lok Sabha Speaker is elected by a simple majority of MPs voting and all speakers until now had been elected with consensus. 2. The Centre's seven-member high-level committee forms to oversee transparency and look into the functioning of the National Testing Agency to meet on Monday, states the sources at the Education Ministry. 3. The Delhi High Court will shortly pronounce its verdict on a plea by the Enforcement Directorate seeking a stay on the trial court order granting bail to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a money laundering case. A vacation bench of Justice Sudhir Kumar Jain had reserved the order on June 21 after the agency challenged the trial court's decision and put it in abeyance until the pronouncement.

1. The Supreme Court on Monday refused Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal immediate relief in his battle to overturn the High Court's interim stay on a bail order issued last week by a lower court. The court responded to Mr Kejriwal's arguments that the High Court erred in staying bail without fully reading the order, and rationale, of the lower court by saying it would wait till the said order came on record, and the High Court had a chance to re-examine the stay before ruling on his plea. 2. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and members of his Council of Ministers, including Rajnath Singh and Amit Shah, took the oath as members of the 18th Lok Sabha as its first session began today. President Droupadi Murmu administered oath to Bharatiya Janata Party lawmaker Bhartruhari Mahtab as the pro-tem Speaker of the Lok Sabha. Mr Mahtab then call upon Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Leader of the Lok Sabha, to take oath as a member of the House. 3. According to CBI sources, the investigation will proceed through four phases, scrutinizing every aspect from the creation and printing of exam papers to their distribution across various examination centres nationwide. The National Testing Agency (NTA), responsible for conducting these exams, has stringent protocols in place to maintain confidentiality, making any breach a matter of grave concern. 5. Former Janata Dal Secular MP Prajwal Revanna, who is facing charges of rape and sexual abuse, has been sent back to judicial custody until July 8. He was remanded to a 14-day judicial custody starting June 18 until July 2. But, the Special Investigation Team or SIT which is probing the cases against him sought a body warrant against him and took him under custody that ended today.

A fresh case has been filed in connection with the alleged paper leak in medical entrance exam NEET, by the Central Bureau of Investigation, which has taken charge of the probe following a complaint by the Ministry of Human Resources. The fresh case against unidentified persons alleges fraud and criminal conspiracy. The accused arrested by the states will also be taken into custody, sources said. 2. Facing protests in several parts of the country as well as attacks from the opposition, the Centre has removed the chief of the National Testing Agency (NTA) from his post amid the controversy over the alleged irregularities in NEET-UG and the cancellation of the UGC-NET Exam. 3. The first session of the 18th Lok Sabha will begin on Monday, which will see newly-elected MPs, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, taking the oath, followed by the election of Speaker and President Droupadi Murmu's address to a joint sitting of both the Houses. 4. Janata Dal-Secular leader Suraj Revanna, the elder brother of Prajwal Revanna who is facing sex crimes allegations by multiple women, has been arrested allegedly for sexually assaulting a male party worker. A case was filed against Suraj Revanna based on a complaint registered by the 27-year-old party worker who accused the JD(S) leader of sexually assaulting him at a farm house in Karnataka's Hassan district on June 16.

1. The Bihar Police detained six people from Jharkhand's Deoghar district in connection with the alleged irregularities in medical entrance exam NEET, an official said on Saturday. They were detained from a house near AIIMS-Deoghar in Devipur police station area on Friday night, he said. 2. The ongoing disruption in the education sector that have emerged after paper leak and exam cancellation may further result in delayed admission process in the new academic year. The NEET fiasco has already disrupted the admissions in medical colleges. The counselling for admissions into MBBS, BDS, and other courses will start on July 6. Mumbai police have recovered an audio file which establishes a link between the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and the attackers who shot at actor Salman Khan's house in April. Sources said that the audio file shows that Lawrence's brother Anmol Bishnoi was in constant touch with the shooter. 5. Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who is the first foreign guest on a bilateral State Visit to India after the formation of the Modi 3.0 government, received a ceremonial welcome at the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan.

India will bring back the bodies of 45 of its nationals killed in a devastating fire in Kuwait City on Wednesday by a special flight which will land in Kochi before heading for Delhi, the Indian Embassy in Kuwait has said in a statement on Thursday night. According to the statement, most of the victims are from Kerala (23), followed by seven from Tamil Nadu, three each from Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, two from Odisha, and one each from Bihar, Punjab, Karnataka, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Haryana. 2. 1. Prime Minister Narendra Modi took oath today along with 71 ministers of the new coalition government. Thirty of them are Cabinet Ministers, five independent charge, and 36 Ministers of State. The portfolios will be announced later. PM Modi, 73, will head a coalition government in his third term, or Modi 3.0, for the first time since he became Prime Minister in 2014 following a huge Brand Modi victory after 10 years of the United Progressive Alliance rule. 2. President Droupadi Murmu administered the oath to PM Modi. Rajnath Singh and Amit Shah took oath after him. Nitin Gadkari was the fourth leader to be administered the oath of office by the President. JP Nadda, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Nirmala Sitharaman, S Jaishankar, and Manohar Lal Khattar followed in taking oath. 3. As Narendra Modi took oath as the Prime Minister for the third consecutive term, a number of global events are lined up, where India's participation will play a crucial role in shaping geopolitics. India has emerged as a strong voice in the past decade. PM Modi has prioritised positioning India as the Voice of the Global South with the Vishwa Bandhu approach. The G20 Summit was held under India's presidency with the theme of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam. 4. Prime Minister Narendra Modi's new Council of Ministers in his historic third term has laid an unprecedented emphasis on the southern part of the country, reflecting the outcome of the recently concluded assembly election. The new cabinet includes 13 ministers from south. This despite the BJP tally remaining exactly where it was in 2019-29 of the 129 southern seats. Five of the 13 southern ministers including former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy are from Karnataka, BJP's only bastion in the south that delivered 19 of the 28 Lok Sabha seats to the NDA. The BJP won 17 seats and Mr Kumaraswamy's Janata Dal two. The state's ruling Congress won nine seats. 5. Nine people were killed and 33 injured after a bus full of pilgrims, attacked by terrorists, plunged into a gorge in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi . The bus was on its way to the Shiv Khori cave temple when it came under attack. As the terrorists opened fire, the bus fell into a gorge.
