#31: Join host Aaron Fournier and functional-medicine detective Dr. Paul Harris for a clear, practical breakdown of the limbic system trauma loop — what it is, how it starts (even in utero), why it produces brain fog, chronic stress and inflammation, and what you can do to reset the system.
In this episode we cover:
• What the limbic system does and its key parts (thalamus, hypothalamus, amygdala, hippocampus, prefrontal cortex)
• How chronic stress, infections (including long-COVID), heavy metals, mold/mycotoxins, EMF exposure and disrupted sleep can trigger or perpetuate a trauma loop
• Common signs: persistent brain fog, sleep disruption, exaggerated emotional responses, chronic fatigue, food sensitivities, autoimmune patterns
• Assessment options: clinical screening, neuroimaging, limbic trauma questionnaire, targeted toxin/mycotoxin testing (e.g., mercury tri-test, TOTAL TOX)
• Actionable interventions: DNRS neuroretraining, somatic trauma work, EMDR, vagal-nerve exercises (cold exposure, gargling, humming), targeted detox and supportive frequency compositions from Soaak
• Real outcomes and hope: restoring parasympathetic function, calming immune overreaction, improved cognition and quality of life

#15: In this episode of The Science of Sound, Aaron Fournier sits down with holistic health practitioner Laina Goley (FDN-P, HHC) to unpack her extraordinary story of healing and resilience. After surviving a devastating plane crash that left her with broken bones from head to toe, Laina was told she might never walk again, have children, or regain full function. But through the power of prayer, the spoken word, somatic healing, and her deep understanding of the body’s innate intelligence, she not only recovered—she transformed.
Together, they explore how thoughts and frequencies influence physical healing, why grounding and somatic practices are essential, and how trauma is stored in the body on a cellular level. Laina’s testimony is a powerful reminder that you are not your diagnosis. Health is your birthright, and the body is far more capable of healing than we’ve been led to believe.
Whether you're seeking encouragement, holistic tools, or scientific insight into the body-mind connection, this conversation will leave you inspired and empowered.
