Did I catch your attention with that title? Oops, don't hate me, but that's not really what this episode is about. Well, kind of, you'll see.I have some strong feelings about certain approaches made by businesses in the fitness industry during this time, and I just wanted to come on here to share them with you all. My ultimate goal for this discussion is that you walk away feeling worthy of WHATEVER you choose to do, or eat, during the holiday season...especially this year. ...yes, you. I see you. And I am here for you! I'm coming on solo again this week. This subject has been weighing on me a lot lately.I'm talking about the things we don't want to talk about. The things that we all probably go through in our 20s, but for some reason pretend like we don't. The things that break us, and the things that can build us back up.I touch a little more on my own personal experiences in hopes of giving you a hand to hold in your own journey. You're never alone! Hey team! How's it going? Really, truly, genuinely hoping that you're doing much better than just "ok." But, if not, know that you're not alone. I'm here this week to talk about two things that always help me feel purposeful & more successful in life: setting clear goals and defining my "why." I discuss practices and tips that have helped me keep these things fairly steady in my life in hopes of it helping others out there. Remember, I would never ever ever ever EVER in a million years claim to have it all figured out, whatever that even means. I just find it so very important to share what works in our lives so that we can help each other, be there for one another, and maybe even have a little bit of advice that pushes each other to our best selves. Thank you, a million times, for being here and please never hesitate to reach out! It would also mean a whole lot if you took the time to head over to Apple Podcasts and left a review. Ok, that's it for now. Sending you all big love.behindtheworkoutpodcast@gmail.com@alyssamaguirefitness@behindtheworkoutpodcast
HELLO everybody! I did it! I got my favorite person to get behind the mic and give us some really quality advice. Mac Maguire is my husband, and I'm TOTALLY biased, but I think anybody that knows him would agree the he's "that guy". You know, the one that everybody turns to for advice, the one everybody can trust, the one that always steers you back to the positive side...I know, how did I get so lucky? I decided to pick his brain about setting goals, finding your passion, and advice that he may have for anybody struggling to do so. He's a leader in all aspects of life, and I'm super thankful to learn from him every day. As always, reach out to me on Instagram @alyssamaguirefitness or by email at behindtheworkoutpodcast@gmail.com for anything you may ever need or are curious about! As always, thanks for being here!
I don't even know how to put into words how much this episode means to me!!! Annette is a dear friend that has turned into family throughout the years. She and Mac met through officer candidate school...yes...you read that right...and she is a total badass. I can vividly remember Mac telling me stories about this 100 pound girl crushing every obstacle that they were put through with a smile on her face the entire time. She and her husband joined the Marine Corps together, and have been in for a little over 4 years. They now have a precious baby boy, so on top of being in the military AND being a military spouse, Annette is a new MOM! And without a doubt, she is absolutely crushing it. She is the most positive and upbeat person that I have ever met, and I hope you open your ears big time for all that she has to say. If you don't walk away from this conversation with a new, higher confidence level, then you might want to check your pulse. As always, let me know what you think at behindtheworkoutpodcast@gmail.com. Thanks for being here! You guys are the BEST!
Hey team! Thanks for the awesome questions you've sent in! I'm honored that you guys trust me with my insight on these topics. This was a ton of fun to do, so I saved some of the questions to do another one very soon! We touch on a lot of conversations this week from running, to long distance relationships, to Melinda's hot sauce, to gymshark leggings, to staying positive! WOO! As always, send in your questions or requests to behindtheworkoutpodcast@gmail.com or find me over on Instagram @alyssamaguirefitness. You guys rock. Let's keep building this community together!
You guys! I felt so lucky when Lauren agreed to give me part of her day to pick her brain about what it's like to fulfill many roles in the fitness industry. She has created an incredibly admirable career for herself, all while being a dedicated wife and mother to two precious girls! I first learned of her when I got certified through Barre Above, which she co-created, and then I began following her journey and discovered that there's SO MUCH MORE that goes into her day to day life than just teaching group fitness classes! She talks a lot about staying organized and how she's gotten to where she is today, and she gives some really great advice to any fellow fitness instructors out there, or anyone that's hoping to dive into the industry! I hope you enjoy learning from this passionate, energetic, and hard working woman, because she's got SO much to offer!
Excited is an understatement! I got to steal an hour from my good friend and biggest role model, Ali Nyquist! She is a business owner, a marathon runner, an ironman finisher, a mom, a wife, an incredible friend to ALL, and so much more. She's one of the most impressive, humble, and selfless individuals that I've ever met. We talk about what it's like to own a business, to be a mom and wife while doing that, training for some pretty intense races, and staying true to yourself. Ali has a heart of gold and is someone that I could spend days talking to and still want more! She's full of passion and heart and I hope that you can feel that in this episode. Find her on Instagram @ali_quist and @amplifly.ride.life.flow. If you're in the Wilmington, NC area, I highly recommend you check out Amplifly if you haven't already. It changed my life and I know so many other people would agree with that statement. Amplifly also has a great online platform with a library full of barre, cycle, strength, and yoga classes for all fitness levels. They will welcome you to the family with open arms and you'll never turn back! Follow along with us @behindtheworkoutpodcast and email any questions, comments, or episode requests to behindtheworkoutpodcast@gmail.com. I love hearing from you all! Thanks again for being here, talk soon!
Hi everyone! We made it! Episode 1 of Behind The Workout is short and sweet. We've got a fun road ahead of us with a lineup of some pretty amazing people who are going to share their fitness journeys, but first I wanted to give a little background of the how and why of this podcast. Listen, laugh, and bear with me as I begin to navigate this whole new territory of speaking softly into a mic!!! Thanks for being here, team!
