In the aftermath of giving birth less than 24 hours earlier, I found myself on the verge of a crisis. Despite losing a significant amount of blood, my doctor chose not to proceed with a blood transfusion against the advice of the nurses. As I grappled with this decision, another blow hit – my newborn daughter failed not one, not two, but three hearing tests.
