We revisit the account of the woman healed on the Sabbath and how Jesus deals with passive aggressive critique of the synagogue leader. In this study we take a look at the weak translation from Hebrew to English that results in the woman being a "help mate." Informed by the work of Carolyn Custis James's book, "Half the Church: Recapturing God's Global Vision for Women," we look at the Hebrew usage of "Ezer-Kenegdo," and how it informs our proper understanding of how the first woman is described in Genesis 2. This week we discuss how Jesus taught his disciples to pray and its far reaching implications. Jesus makes it known that in the Kingdom we can approach God as Father and Friend, that by seeking the Kingdom our needs will be met, and that learning and embodying a posture of forgiveness is required for our citizenship in his Kingdom. Also in this section of Luke we see Jesus challenged by critics as to where his power comes from to exorcise demons. We are hosting this recording here because this theology is the lens through which the Scriptures are interpretted at our Sunday gathering of the Gringlish Fellowship.
