On today's podcast, I'm joined by Gina Mundy, an attorney specializing in childbirth cases. For over 20 years her focus has been investigating and analyzing mistakes that arise during labor and delivery.
She has spent countless hours scrutinizing childbirth cases, conducting interviews with delivery teams, and thoroughly examining medical records to gain an in-depth understanding of every decision made during labor and delivery.
In 2023, she published a book titled, “A Parent’s Guide to a Safer Childbirth” to help parents avoid common mistakes made during childbirth.
We cover:
Gina's background and how she got started in childbirth law.
The most common issues in childbirth cases every parent should know about.
How parents can prevent these mistakes and have a healthy baby.
Tips for parents when picking the right doctor, whether it is for childbirth or after the child is born.
The most important things parents need to know to have a healthy baby

Navigating the different medication options for thyroid disease, like Hashimoto's, can be overwhelming, especially when you're not feeling well, and people don't always receive all the information that's out there. That's why this week, I'm clarifying the difference between synthetic and desiccated thyroids and the medications available. I cover:
Levothyroxine, also known as Synthroid, and the benefits of synthetic hormones.
Liothyronine, also known as Cytomel, how it works, when it helps the most, and potential risks.
Desiccated Thyroid Hormones, or desiccated pig thyroid, how they work, and the potential benefits and problems.
Remember, there is some trial and error to the process, so be sure to continue to test your levels and don't accept the first option you're given if it's not working for you.

Despite so many different options for birth control being available, it often feels like the pill is the only option. But knowing what your options are us key to making the choice that is best for you and your body. In this episode, I deep dive into each method of birth control, how effective it is, why it works, and the pros and cons to each. I cover:
The traditional pill, which is roughly 91% effective and comes in two types.
IUDs, which are 99% effective and come in 5 types in the United States.
Nexplanon, which is also 99% effective and implanted in the arm.
The depo shot, which is 94% effective and needs to be re-administered once every 3 months.
NuvaRing, which is 99% effective and needs to be replaced every month.
Spermacides, which are 79% effective and should be used in addition to other forms of birth control.
Phexxi, which 93% effective when used correctly, 86% when used with error, and is a relatively newer option for spermacide.
Condoms, which are 85% effective.
Fertility Awareness Methods (FAMs), which are the most natural form of birth control, and requires using your bio-markers to track your fertility and ovulation.
I also cover when in your cycle you're at the highest risk for pregnancy.

Today, on my podcast, I am joined by Kelly Jackson, otherwise known as @thestudio.atl. Kelly fell in love with Pilates in her 20’s, but it wasn’t until she had two kids that she really understood the therapeutic affect it can have as well. Pilates helped reconnect her mind and body postpartum. It gave strength and ease to her daily movements and inspired her to want to share this experience with other women who, at times, feel like strangers in their own bodies. She also wanted to create a space for clients to feel welcome and at ease while connecting to their bodies. Many of the studios she attended in Atlanta felt very cold or unwelcoming to “non-ideal” body types. She believes everyone deserves a positive movement experience and that class should be an escape from any stress or negativity. Kelly has been in marketing for 18 years and was excited to combine her work experience with her passion. You’ll see her at the front desk of The Studio Pilates and also getting certified through Polestar.

Sometimes we just don't feel like going to the grocery store... instead of reaching for a box of mac & cheese, reach for foods that balance your blood sugar and hormones. Whether you have heavy periods, terrible PMS, are struggling to get pregnant, or if you have hyperthyroidism like myself, all these foods should be in your diet. I always talk about balancing meals with healthy fats, fiber, and protein, and today I’ll be sharing my pantry staples in all three categories.
