Why do we eat? We need to eat to survive, but there are other reasons that we eat too. We eat when we come together with people. We eat when we’re happy. We eat when we’re sad. We eat because things taste good. We eat for energy. And sometimes we can overcomplicate eating. Eating is to sustain us, it is to energize us, and it is something that we are allowed to eat. But we can make up food rules in our minds, that make us lose sight of what’s really important in life. Having how the relationship with food means that Food does not control you’re every waking moment, or you’re every mental thought. Having healthy relationship with food is about being able to be at peace with eating for nutrition and enjoyment.

But a lot of times we are feeling unmotivated, tired, or too busy. The reality is there will always be an excuse, not to work out, at every stage of our lives. But moving your body on a regular basis is so important! If you want to have a strong, mobile, flexible, stable body for as long as possible, and into your old age, routine exercise needs to be part of your lifestyle. Exercise is for everyone. So there’s going to be times where you don’t want to work out, but working out needs to be part of your weekly schedule. There’s pride in saying that you go to the gym in the morning. It can feel nice to get your workout out of the way first thing. It is also hard to get up early and carve out that time, when mornings can be busy to begin with. Thankfully, morning is not the only time that you can get a workout in. Maybe morning is the only time that you specifically can get movement in, but if you have other options, afternoon and evening workouts count the same as 5 AM gym session.

If you want to heal your relationship with food, don't eat your veggies. I used to try to health-ify everything I ate, and as I progressed in healing my relationship with food, I started realizing that I wasn't enjoying my food as much as I had hoped. I realized that I didn't have to make every single food more nutritious than it originally is. I didn't have to put spinach in every dish or in all my smoothies. I didn't have to put veggies in every casserole that didn't call for veggies in it. I could eat foods how they are traditionally made - and enjoy them - and have my veggies on the side. My hope for this episode is that it will encourage you to eat the foods that you love, and not healthify them - just allow yourself to enjoy tasty foods, and eat your veggies on the side
