In episode 12, I interview Tracey and Anastasia from Moms on Mushrooms, a private community platform focused on education, advocacy, and connection. Tracey is the founder and steward of the organization and Anastasia is head of education and programming. Their mission is fourfold: 1) destigmatize psychedelics, especially for moms 2) promote safe, intentional and sacred use of psychedelics, 3) remain in humble service to others, always, and 4) teach and promote reciprocity, responsibility, and respect. Moms on Mushrooms offers courses exclusively for moms who are interested in learning more about microdosing or macrodosing and want to be supported on that journey. Moms on Mushrooms has been featured on several news outlets, Good Morning America, and the Dr. Phil Show. These moms are constantly advocating for how mushrooms, specifically microdosing, can help moms become better moms. As a mom, I agree and fully support their mission and am so excited to have them both on the ITrip podcast. In this episode we talk about everything from breaking stigma, how microdosing and macrodosing can be an ally for moms, what Moms on Mushrooms has to offer, healing ancestral trauma, talking to kids about drugs, and more. In episode 13, I interview Ally Barrett, a local woman who I initially met at our first Psychedelic Sunday meetup. We were all sharing our “psychedelic stories” and hers really intrigued me because she attributes her ability to heal from neurologic lyme disease, at least in part, to working with psilocybin mushrooms. Interestingly, Johns Hopkins is currently enrolling by invitation for a study to look at whether psilocybin is helpful in alleviating the burden of ongoing symptoms in individuals with neurologic Lyme disease. You can learn more about it at clinicaltrials.gov. Disclaimer: Nothing in this episode is or should be taken as medical advice. In episode 11, I interview Emefa Boamah, a multi-certified women’s life and business coach with a focus on healing and leading through embodiment. She also does preparation and integration work for an amazing organization called Illuminating Heros, (previously Heroic Path to Light) which helps veterans and their families heal through working with psychedelics. At her core, she is a medicine woman and priestess hailing from the Ewe Tribe of Ghana. Emefa draws upon her Ghanian lineage, her personal experience as a trauma survivor, and professional training in her work as an embodiment coach. Emefa shares how a near death experience following Covid and working with psychedelics have played pivotal roles in her personal and professional journeys. We also touch on the importance of minority voices in the psychedelic space. Disclaimer: nothing in this episode is or should be taken as medical advice as medical advice. In episode ten, I interview Kara Tremain, a healthcare marketing executive turned psychedelic-informed somatic practitioner and coach. Kara has certifications from International Coaching Federation and Psychedelics Today's Vital Training program and has been trained in somatic experiencing and craniosacral therapy. She’s also a wife and mom of three, currently residing in Los Angeles. Kara and I originally met last summer as participants at a breathwork retreat in River Mountain, Pennsylvania hosted by Psychedelics Today. I made sure to keep in touch with Kara because of my interest in her work as a somatic practitioner. I’m excited to share this episode with you and hope you enjoy learning about somatic experiencing and how it pairs well with psychedelic work. In episode nine, I interview Cam Leids, who brings a lot to the psychedelic space. He is the face of Trip Sitting Blog, and puts out a great podcast and psychedelic content through Instagram. Cam also writes for a publication called Shroomtown. He recently wrote an article on 2CB and helped put together a holiday gift guide, so you have any psychonauts on your holiday shopping list be sure to check it out. He's also the founder of Conscious Retreats, which helps people find the perfect plant medicine retreat center based on factors including type of experience, budget, location, and time. Overall, Cam's a great guy who I'm honored to call a friend. I hope you enjoy this episode. It is candid, down to earth, and relatable, just like he is. Apologies for the occasional background noise. We were sitting outside on the grass outside of wonderland and there was a cold plunge station nearby so every once in a while you’ll hear some cheering. In episode eight, I interview Dr. Gabby Pelicci, author of the #1 Amazon bestseller entitled All This Healing Is Killing Me to find out why she trips. While you would think her answer would center around healing, it was so much more than that. Gabby has degrees in psychology and educational technology from Columbia University and her PhD in Transformative Studies from the California Institute of Integral Studies. She is head of Provider Relations and Third Wave, a university professor, and a writing coach. I attended a virtual book reading with Gabby earlier this year where I was drawn to her storytelling ability and respect for psychedelic healing. I had the chance to meet her at the Psychedelic Science 2023 conference and finally got the chance to sit down with her to record this episode at the Wonderland conference in Miami. Gabby has a way with words and I know you'll enjoy listening to her ITrip story as much as I did. In episode seven, I interview Dr. Tyler Panzner, a PhD scientist turned holistic genetic health coach. He has his PhD in molecular and cellular pharmacology, specializing in neuropharmacology and breast cancer immunology. More recently, he has combined this expertise to offer clients holistic genetic health optimization. Tyler and I were initially connected on Instagram through a mutual friend and I was thrilled to run into him at Wonderland conference in Miami where we had a chance to record this podcast. Dr. Panzner shares how psychedelics have impacted his creativity at work and a little about how our genetics can impact our psychedelic experience. I honestly wish we would have kept recording because we had several fascinating conversations throughout the day. He's a super smart guy who knows how to break down complex topics for those of us who don't have a PhD in pharmacology. I highly encourage you to give him a follow on your favorite social media channels. In this episode, I interview Dr. Michelle Weiner, a physician who is double board-certified in Interventional Pain Medicine and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. She is the Director of Integrative Pain Management at Spine and Wellness Centers of America and has offices throughout South Florida. Dr. Weiner completed her residency and fellowship training at the University of Miami, and she is a Clinical Assistant Professor at Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Weiner’s unique approach to personalized integrative pain management allows her to treat the root cause of one’s pain and suffering versus just the symptom. She uses a biopsychosocial approach that includes lifestyle and plant medicine to empower her patients to cultivate health and quality of life. I appreciate Dr. Weiner’s approach and especially admire her dedication to helping patients with chronic pain regain their life without dependence on opioids. In this episode I dive into my recent intramuscular ketamine journey. I must admit, prior to this experience I underestimated the potential of ketamine. This dream-like journey offered the most intense ego death I’ve had to date. It was a heavy but beautiful experience. I’m so glad I’m able to share it on this platform and hope it helps paint a picture of how psychedelic experiences help people shift their perspective, reframe situations, and heal from trauma. Court Wing was a participant in NYU’s recently published randomized control trial investigating single-dose psilocybin for major depressive disorder. His outcome surpassed his expectations, alleviating both his depression and chronic pain. This profound experience launched Court into digging into published research, building relationships with scientists and experts in the psychedelic field, and ultimately starting Remap Therapeutics to explore and innovate the intersection of psychedelics and chronic pain. This is a longer episode, but it’s filled with relatable stories from Court’s healing journey, references to published literature, and information about the innovative approach Remap is taking to address chronic pain.
