Whilst I am travelling this week, I wanted to re-share a VERY important episode. This one especially goes for any of your current in prep (or maybe even approaching a prep in the future). We always have to remember that with a bodybuilding prep, the goal is NOT to just diet as hard as you physically can. Or even, to get as lean as you can physically get. Presenting your best possible physique is largely an art that we have to truly appreciate as both a coach and as an athlete. Success in bodybuilding should not just be determined by 1 factor alone. There are so many different factors we can assess to determine the ‘success’ of our bodybuilding journey & we should also be able to appreciate how the hierarchy of these can, and should, change over time.

Do you need to compete in order to be a bodybuilder? Absolutely not. Bodybuilding is a process in and of itself. Competitive bodybuilding takes that to the extreme level & that is not something that will actually enhance everyones bodybuilding experience. 

For some it will & they will thrive in that environment. For others, it wont. And that is actually perfectly okay. As a female especially, competing takes a lot out of you (mentally and physically) - so being able to make a smart decision as to what will give you the most enjoyment and longevity within bodybuilding is always going to be so important. In this episode I talk through some of the main reasons why, and scenarios where, it might be better for you to simply bodybuilding without getting down to stage lean condition. This week on the podcast, we are joined by special guest Ariane Hine (@ari.gyms) Ari is a Natural Figure Competitor, having competed for the first time in 2024 with an extremely successful season - taking 2nd Place in Toned Figure at PCA Yorkshire & a Top 3 Placing at the UKDBA International Championships. In this episode, we were able to talk about all the pivotal points in Ari’s journey that led her to where she is today. Particularly, all of the valuable lessons that she as learnt along the way so far as she has navigated her bodybuilding journey. Ari also opens up about her experience with Endometriosis and how she has navigated this alongside her competitive goals. She gives some incredible insight that will undoubtedly help so many other females know that they are not alone in their experience, and that they too, can accomplish the goals they set out for themselves I hope you all love this conversations as much as I did!
