What if the reason you’re being overlooked isn’t your performance — but your relationships? In this masterclass episode, we unpack the uncomfortable truth most high achievers avoid: doing great work isn’t enough. If you’ve ever watched less qualified colleagues rise faster, felt invisible in meetings, or wondered why your career isn’t matching your effort, this conversation will hit home. Featuring insights from relational intelligence expert Ronen Olshansky and leadership veteran Mark Miller, this episode challenges everything you thought you knew about networking, influence, and leadership. You’ll discover why “networking” feels fake (and how to fix it), how small acts of generosity can transform your career trajectory, and the mindset shifts that turn relationships into your greatest competitive advantage. We go beyond surface-level tactics and dive into: The hidden reason top performers get passed over — and how to change it How to build authentic, strategic relationships without feeling transactional Why asking for help is actually a powerful act of leadership The concept of “co-elevation” and how to create a network that actively lifts you The leadership habits that multiply your influence — both in conversations and in life Whether you’re a heads-down operator ready to step into leadership, or a seasoned professional looking to deepen your impact, this episode gives you a clear, practical roadmap to stop being overlooked — and start being remembered. Because success isn’t just about what you do. It’s about who you bring with you — and who’s willing to speak your name when you’re not in the room.
We love hero stories where everything works out—but those stories are actually hurting the next generation. In this episode, Dr. Alexis Redding, a leader at the Harvard Graduate School of Education and co-author of The End of Adolescence, reveals why our "triumphant narratives" prevent us from connecting with young people. After reopening a "lost" 50-year study, Alexis discovered that the loneliness and uncertainty we see in Gen Z today are identical to what college students felt in the 1970s—we’ve just forgotten how hard it actually was. If you’ve ever felt like you didn’t belong or you’re struggling to give meaningful advice to others, this masterclass on memory, bravery, and "micro-mentorship" is for you. What if the real reason you freeze in high-stakes moments isn’t a lack of confidence — but a nervous system trying to protect you? In this powerful conversation, somatic coach and author Jay Moon Fields reveals why so many high-performing professionals sabotage themselves in the moments that matter most — and how to reclaim control using the intelligence of the body. Drawing from over 20 years of work with Fortune 100 leaders and organizations like Apple, the United Nations, and Patagonia, Jay shares the surprising truth behind people-pleasing, emotional shutdown, and overthinking. You’ll learn why your body often knows what’s happening before your mind does — and how learning to listen to those signals can transform the way you lead, communicate, and negotiate. Together, we explore Jay’s powerful “Hey, Wait” framework, a simple yet profound method for pausing in the middle of stressful interactions, reconnecting with your internal experience, and showing up with clarity instead of fear. In this episode, you’ll discover: Why high achievers often freeze, overthink, or people-please in critical moments The body signals that reveal when you’re abandoning yourself in conversations How to interrupt emotional hijacking before it takes over A practical 3-step method to stay grounded during difficult feedback, negotiations, and conflict Why learning to say “Hey, wait” can radically change how you relate to others — and yourself If you’ve ever walked away from a meeting thinking “Why didn’t I say what I meant to say?”, this episode will give you the tools to stop freezing, trust your instincts, and show up with presence when the stakes are highest. Because the most powerful conversations don’t start with better scripts — they start with better awareness of yourself.
Failure isn’t a setback — it’s the fastest path to growth, clarity, and real success. In this masterclass episode of Negotiate Anything, we dive deep into the idea that the most important breakthroughs don’t come from getting it right — they come from getting it wrong and choosing to move forward anyway. Entrepreneur Jeremy Delk shares his journey from small-town beginnings to Wall Street, revealing how losing big, taking risks, and embracing uncertainty shaped his success. Alongside him, learning scientist Manu Kapoor introduces the concept of “productive failure,” explaining why intentionally stepping into discomfort is the key to mastering any skill — from negotiation to leadership. Together, they unpack why the hardest conversations are often the ones we have with ourselves, how authenticity accelerates better outcomes, and why action — not overthinking — is the real catalyst for progress. This episode will challenge the way you see failure, push you to rethink your approach to growth, and give you practical insights you can apply immediately. Because the goal isn’t to avoid failure. It’s to use it — on purpose.
In a world of mass layoffs and AI automation, your reputation is no longer enough to save your job. In this episode, brand and behavior strategist Howie Chan explains why "personal branding" is a trap that turns most professionals off—and why you should focus on becoming a Professional with Influence instead. Howie spent 20 years in corporate leadership before being laid off, an experience that led him to develop the Behavioring Blueprint: a framework for making yourself indispensable. What if everything you’ve been taught about networking is missing the point? In this episode, we sit down with relationship strategy expert Andy Lopata to uncover why real professional success isn’t built in networking events — it’s built in intentional relationships. If you’ve ever felt that traditional networking advice feels transactional, awkward, or even a little manipulative, Andy offers a refreshing alternative: a strategy rooted in authentic connection, trust, and long-term value. Drawing on decades of experience working with global organizations and leaders, Andy reveals why most professionals focus on the wrong things when building their networks — and how shifting your focus from tactics to relationship strategy can transform your career. You’ll learn: Why “networking” is only a tiny part of building meaningful professional relationships The 7 stages of professional relationships — from recognition to advocacy How the Relationship Matrix helps you move from passive connections to intentional influence The real reasons people choose to help their colleagues — and how to ethically leverage that dynamic Practical ways to influence without authority in siloed organizations Along the way, Andy and Kwame unpack the psychology of influence, the blurred line between personal and professional relationships, and why authentic curiosity — not manipulation — is the real key to building a powerful network. If you want stronger alliances, greater influence at work, and a relationship strategy that actually works, this conversation will change the way you think about connection. Tune in and discover how to turn everyday interactions into lasting professional relationships that open doors for years to come.
What if the key to loving your work again isn’t changing jobs — but changing how you show up? In this episode, workplace strategist and bestselling author Elizabeth Lotardo reveals why fulfillment at work isn’t something your boss, company, or circumstances can give you. Instead, it’s something you create through self-leadership, mindset, and personal ownership. We explore why so many people leave jobs searching for meaning — only to discover the problem follows them — and how reclaiming control of your work experience can transform everything from your energy to your opportunities. You’ll learn practical strategies to: Navigate difficult workplace dynamics without damaging your reputation Set boundaries and advocate for yourself effectively Turn everyday frustrations into opportunities for growth Rediscover purpose and engagement in the role you already have Whether you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed by workplace politics, or simply craving more meaning in your career, this conversation will challenge how you think about work — and empower you to take the driver’s seat in your professional life.
Money isn’t just about numbers — it’s about the stories we tell ourselves about success, freedom, and what “enough” really means. In this thought-provoking conversation, bestselling author Morgan Housel ( The Psychology of Money ) reveals why our financial decisions are rarely logical — and why understanding our emotions around money might matter more than understanding money itself. From envy and social comparison to ambition, contentment, and the pursuit of freedom, Morgan breaks down the hidden psychology shaping how we earn, save, spend, and measure our lives. Together, we explore why chasing more doesn’t always lead to happiness, how expectations can quietly become a form of “psychological debt,” and why the richest people aren’t always the ones with the most money — but the ones who’ve learned what enough looks like. Morgan also shares powerful insights on long-term thinking, the difference between knowledge and lived wisdom, and why some of life’s most important lessons can only be learned through experience. If you’ve ever wondered why money can feel like both a tool and a trap — or how to use it to build a life that truly aligns with your values — this episode will challenge the way you think about wealth, ambition, and success. By the end, you may not just see money differently — you may see your life differently too.
Communication is the foundation of every relationship, but how do you talk about the one topic everyone is afraid to mention? In this episode, Caitlin V—a renowned sexologist, researcher, and author of Harder, Better, Longer, Stronger—reveals why most people hit a wall when communicating their intimate needs. Caitlin has spent over a decade helping men and couples overcome anxiety to build deeper, more authentic connections. If you’ve ever felt like your relationship communication is "playing singles tennis" instead of doubles, this masterclass on eroticism and vulnerability is for you. Silence can win you the negotiation before you even say a word. In this masterclass episode of Negotiate Anything, Kwame Christian speaks with mediator Amy Mariani and leadership expert Elaine Lin Herring about the hidden power of silence in negotiation and leadership. They explore how intentional pauses, body language, and thoughtful communication can reveal critical information, shift dynamics, and move conversations toward resolution. Amy shares how silence often prompts the other side to reveal more than they planned, why people feel compelled to fill quiet moments, and how subtle cues — like facial expressions or gestures — can signal discomfort or hesitation. Then Elaine expands the conversation to the silence we learn in our workplaces and relationships, and how reclaiming our voice can reshape leadership, collaboration, and negotiation. In this episode, you’ll learn: Why silence is one of the most powerful negotiation tools How to read body language—even over Zoom A practical way to break complex conversations into manageable parts How leaders can create cultures where people feel safe to speak up Sometimes the most powerful move in a conversation isn’t what you say—it’s when you choose not to speak.

What if the biggest workplace conflict today isn’t about skills or strategy — but about generations misunderstanding each other? In this thought-provoking episode, we dive into the complex dynamics of the modern multigenerational workplace and uncover why generational conflict is often misunderstood — and how organizations can turn it into a powerful advantage. Through insights from organizational behavior expert Chris DeSantis and leadership researcher Quincy Penn, this conversation challenges common stereotypes about “Boomers,” “Gen X,” “Millennials,” and “Gen Z,” revealing how perception, bias, and cultural upbringing shape the way we work, communicate, and negotiate with one another. You’ll discover: Why many generational conflicts are perception-driven rather than reality-based How bias and “conversational coordination” reinforce workplace stereotypes Why younger professionals often value dialogue and autonomy over hierarchy The surprising research showing major differences in motivation between Gen X and Millennials Practical ways leaders can create cultures that engage every generation in the workforce From loyalty and leadership to flexibility and the future of work, this episode explores how generational diversity — when understood correctly — can become one of the most powerful drivers of innovation, collaboration, and organizational growth. If you’ve ever wondered why colleagues from different generations think, communicate, and lead differently — and how to bridge those gaps — this episode will change the way you see workplace dynamics forever.

Most people talk about resilience. Rachel Druckenmiller lived it. Six weeks into a global pandemic, while trying to save a brand-new business, Rachel was out for a run when she was literally hit by a Chevy Silverado. Two days later—with a spinal fracture and wearing a back brace—she was on Zoom teaching leaders how to find hope in uncertainty. But this isn't just a "hustle culture" story. In this episode, Rachel reveals the deep, often painful work of Post-Traumatic Growth. She explains why we often choose the "safe" path of being muted over the brave path of being seen, and how a brush with death finally gave her the courage to stop silencing her own voice. I'll be going to my first job interview in ages and I was really worried about the "what do you want to earn" question since, as you said, being way below or above your interview partner's estimation creates problems. The solution you mentioned is exactly what I was looking for 😊 Thank you!

This is NOT about having difficult conversations about race. This would assume everyone agrees with the premise, comes to the table willing to listen to one another, being open to learning something, changing one's mind, or coming to a compromise. This podcast assumes "systemic, institutional racism," refers to "the other side" and instructs on recruiting allies to "the cause." The a'priori assumption needs to be agreed upon by all before a conversation can be had.

I haven't listened to many Podcasts, but this one really is fun and resonates with me. I also love how Kwame laughs and tells us what's working and what's not working with his podcast.

How do you manage freezing? someone is very angry and says "this is absolutely ridiculous, you don't go home to your wife and children tonight until this problem is fixed". it's complex but you can't work on it because you are Frozen by fear. takes you a day to get over it and start being productive and another two days to find the problem was not yours and was in fact not a problem at all because it was incorrectly defined!
