Steve Edwards is from the U.K., and he knows soul and soul/jazz music worldwide. Working from a very wide palate, (his own personal collection), he is able to mix together American Soul, U.K. Soul, Canadian Soul, contemporary jazz, funk , reggae and even pop into great music sets.
His on-air career began over 20 years ago in London, which also included a three year stint at the BBC. Additionally, Steve knows a LOT of artists… but he also knows the engineers, the writers, and the studio musicians… He has immersed himself in this music for years, and listeners are the beneficiaries. People in the industry seem genuinely happy to be talking with him, because he understands their world. Moreover, artists seem to have lots of fun with their recorded shout-outs dropped into the show.
This eclectic, textured, diverse, and informative take on a global Soul music experience is everything that public radio listeners would expect. It surprises, teaches, and entertains – and we are impressed with how much the host knows, based on how few words he has to use to navigate the show. It is Artful.

August 13th 2011 saw the inception of the Steve Edwards Soul Show on the public radio airwaves. 4 years later the show celebrates in style with former guest artists taking the time out to call the show took a few minutes to call in and say happy 4th!! Were talking of the artist formerly known as Natalia is now "Jaye Valentine" kicking off the birthday proceedings along with Shirley Jones, the prince of soul Mr Will Downing, Mark Adams,Roy Ayres, Alphonse Mouzon, Kevin Toney,Art Stewart live in studio reuniting with Marvin Gaye`s former spouse Ms Jan Gaye in a surprise call from her home in Rhode Island. The hippest monologue beat poetry could only come from one man with the initials TA, what it be Tony Adamo? The soul phone blows up even further with the presence of jazz royalty on the line in the way of Ms Dee Dee Bridgewater and the release of her latest musical triumphs with a homage to New Orleans, One third of the Ojays Eric Nolan managed to squeeze a call to say happy 4th before he boards a plane for his next gig.Last but not least we hear from the Baronessa Cristina Morrison keeping up a forever busy schedule in tact between the worlds of music and film. The last 4 years have been an amazing musical concourse and I am truly humbled and totally appreciate all the artists that took the time to call in and share the vibe!! Furthermore, I totally appreciates you the listeners that make the journey complete. To quote Jan Gaye "Here's to another 4 years and 4 more after that!! Its all about the reggae fever on the soundtrack to your soul with an all edition of "reggae mellow moments" followed by a journey backstage live with the fearless leader Gramps Morgan of the "Royal family" of reggae Morgan Heritage on touring and the new CD "Strictly Roots" The only way to cool down musically was to jump to the soul phone and engage in conversation with the lady that grew up in Ecuador and Miami and is a flourishing actress as well as a consummate jazz recording artist. Sax and keyboard man with Roy Ayres calls in literally minutes after landing his flight from Baltimore Maryland Mr Ray Gaskins reveals why he is in sin city! Needless to say so but I will go ahead and enjoy another Rotations USA production. (C) 2015.
It was always on the books(forgive the pun) that I would be in conversation again with my dear friend Jan Gaye. The word was out; after 31 years the world was finally exposed to her own definitive and personal documentation of her life with a legend that is Marvin Gaye. Primarily silent since Marvin's tragic death Jan share with Steve the why it took so long and the therapeutic aspects of her life as an author. As with our previous encounters I found Jan to be candid and blatantly honest about her emotions and why this memoir serves as a vehicle to help others through the torrid effects of abuse and addiction. "We were up there with Marvin and the Gods Jan" I thank you for sharing and marking an historic landmark of your journey on the soundtrack to your soul! Its got to be another Rotations USA Production(c)2015.

Not much to say here, but to anyone that doesn't have the music of Mr Stevie Wonder in their lives then you're probably not living! As host and producer I feel a great sense of pride surrounding the seven plus hours of production time that went into the structuring and applied creative measures that resulted in 3 hours of musical bliss detailing the man's musical legacy and the numerous artists that are fueled by Stevie influences. Just listen to the classic covers for verification. Even the jazz world felt the far reaching challenges of a Stevie song / composition for their own unique musical(jazzy) interpretations. For Stevie fans everywhere the cherry on the cake has to be the hour long "Stevie moments" in the mix segment! A touch of self indulgence on my part with some of my all time top shelf Stevie toons! Three days into 2015 and the soul show/soul pod edition 1 sets off into orbit to come full circle in four decades. The year is 1975. Its the year that ignited all my musical taste buds that gave birth to the Steve Edwards Soul Show aka The Soundtrack to your soul! For this opening edition there is no doubting the fact that the 1970`s provided the template for our musical existence(back then) that totally reflected and represented our way of life. To think forty years ago I was just a 15 year old kid running errands and doing a paper round for excess income. That income was diligently applied in buying new and used cassettes and yes vinyl records from the local record shop less than a couple of miles from home. The other main ingredient an essential component to my record collection`s rapid expansion was the local radio station ( that aired"Soul Spectrum" every Saturday night, ironically hosted by another Edwards.....The show soon became my weekly fix and reference point to the soul music that was coming out of the united states. All Vinyl including the snap , crackle and pop of the era. These songs you are listening to represent the core of my youth. It was the beginning of a musical journey with radio as my vehicle to share the music, artists interviews, special events , anniversaries and more in my world of soul. For our first edition Freddy Cole (brother of Nat) is live on the soul phone , we dig a soul exclusive from the archives with Carmen Lundy`s 1988 demo sessions on her brilliant cover of George Benson's "So this is love" As for 2014 we slide back into the "best of the rest" featuring releases from The Brand New Heavies and D`Angelo. Miles Davis said it and I echo that sentiment in that the music speaks for itself! To quote another; The Earth has music for those who listen- Kenny Gamble There is only one number 1! Welcome to part 2 of the 2015 Series!
