If you are looking for a progression run that leaves you feeling more confident with every step, then look no further than The Step Up Workout. This workout starts with a progressive warm up followed by three, three-step repeats where you will slowly ramp up your effort.  The goal is to feel like you are continuously “stepping up" the intensity and progressing throughout. You can incorporate The Step Up Workout into your schedule whenever you are in need of adding some variation to your running routine.
Another week, another workout! This time we talk all about Greg's Descending Intervals as part of our weekly series called Stryd's Workout of the Week!
Short on time but not wanting to skip a day of training? Well then look no further than the two new Workouts of the Week Nicoles Time Crunch Workout and Lunch Break Run. Nicole is one of Stryds Front End Software Engineers and passionate about creating an exceptional A to Z user experience for our Stryders.  These workouts are some of Nicoles go to when she is short on time but still wants to get out the door running.  The mixture of aerobic work paired with a nice pickup at the end ensures you get in some quality work no matter how much time you have on hand. You can add Nicoles Time Crunch Workout and Lunch Break Run to your calendar today.  We recommend swapping in these workouts the next time you find yourself short on time and in need of a workout on the fly.
The new workout of the week is Tim's Mile Down. Tim is a member of the Customer Success team at Stryd and is passionate about helping runners achieve their dream performance. Tim is a big believer in progressive workouts where he can start conservatively and progressively get faster with every rep. That is why he chose this mile down workout, which was inspired by running legend Joe Falcon who ran this workout leading up to his first sub 4-minute mile. This workout is a great benchmark to see where your fitness is at and have confidence heading into race day. If you want to add this workout to your calendar, we recommend swapping out a speed or interval session with Tim’s Mile Down.
The new workout of the week is Matt's Alternating 800's. Matt is the head of Coaching at Stryd and works to help others achieve their training and racing goals. Matt competed collegiately for Brown University, and once graduated, moved out to Boulder to take his triathlon training to new heights. In 2018, Matt earned his elite triathlete license and competed in the Boulder Ironman to celebrate.

Welcome to the 5th episode of the Stryd Power Podcast! This episode covers 12 reasons that a running power meter makes you a better runner.  The inspiration for this episode comes from Run with Power by Jim Vance.    "In the history of running technology, a stopwatch is probably equivalent to using a typewriter—pretty good at its job, but severely limited in scope. Running’s step up to heart rate monitors was a revelation, but in retrospect, it was like moving from the typewriter to what we would now regard as an old, heavy, slow desktop computer. Today’s GPS wrist units are like the first cellphones, much like a flip-phone. The portable power meter for running is the next step, equivalent to the laptop, tablet, and smartphone coming into existence all at once. And while you can still accomplish a lot with a desktop computer, you likely will be much more effective in many ways if you add the laptop, tablet, and smartphone to your arsenal. This is what the power meter brings to the world of training and racing for competitive running." Here are just some of the ways a power meter for running can positively affect your training and performance: Boost Your Training Specificity Improve Your Running Technique Your Power Numbers Don’t Lie Monitor Injuries Know Truly How Hard You’re Training Better Recovery Power Meters Offer Precision Tapering Warm-Up Without Wasting Energy Power-to-Weight Ratios Speed per Watt Pacing to Win Know When to Open the Throttle For all this information and more you can read Run with Power by Jim Vance
