Today I share information from an article by Dr Mercola regarding alternatives to pharmaceutical HRT. Essential oils have been around for a millennia and are showing great promise in effectiveness for Menopausal symptoms. I have used them for years with great success. Today we discuss some that are believed to be the most effective and how to use them. I also talk about lifestyle changes that can help along with bio-identical hormone therapy. As with all things related to your health, you should discuss these with your doctor. I suggest a holistic doctor as most physicians have little or no knowledge regarding essential oils or their effectiveness. Have a Vibrant week Boomers! You can follow me on fb and Instagram at My Life Redesigned and on twitter at CoachVickieWash, connect wiht me through my website at vickiewashburn.com.
Did you know that the Alternative Medicine movement started in 1961 when the thalidomide crisis came to a head (thalidomide was a drug given for morning sickness that left babies with horrible birth defects). As Doctors training became more focused on treating conditions, with little interaction with the patient, Americans began to look at alternatives. The Baby Boomer counterculture promoted the use of meditation, acupuncture, homeopathy and other alternative medicines. Did you know that a 10 year study of 201 high risk heart disease patients found that daily meditation cut the risk of heart attack by 50%! I have seen many get on the pharmaceutical merry-go-round and just get sicker and sicker. Relieving one symptom and 5 more pop up. I believe the longer you can stay out of the doctor's office the better health you will enjoy. Today we discuss different alternative medicine modalities, what they are, where they started and how they can help us to live a more vibrant life. Most alternative medicine modalities work to bring the body back into balance or homeostasis and help it to naturally heal itself, which it is designed to do. Leave me a note of some of your favorite and most trusted natural remedies or an alternative modality that you love and have had a good experience with. You can follow me on Facebook and Instragram at MyLifeRedesigned (@coachvickiewash), on Twitter @coachvickiewash, and on my website at vickiewashburn.com
These days we are inundated with negative rhetoric from everywhere. Hate, violence, division, tragedy. It seems that is all there is. But that is a lie. There is really so much more beauty in this world than ugliness and darkness. I have seen so much beauty in the last couple of weeks it has renewed me. I challenge you this week to find the beauty in this world. In nature, in the kindness of a stranger, the laughter of a child, the innocent awe of a little one, the beauty in an elder's hands. I challenge you to BE the beauty in this world. For 1 week, shut out the negative and the hate and concentrate on the beauty there is and the beauty you can bring! You can follow me on Facebook and Twitter@CoachVickieWash and on Instagram @Myliferedesigned. Hilda Kalap is an Energy Healer, an author and single parent. She is one of only 150 Eden Energy Medicine Practitioners in Europe and one of only a few Rahanni Celestial Healing Teachers found in Europe. Today we discuss these modalities and how simple energy routines which we can do on a daily basis, can help keep us balanced and living a Vibrant life. Do you ever wake up and just feel sluggish. It isn't that you feel bad or sick. You really just can't figure out what is going on but you feel like you are dragging or drugged almost. It may very well be that your energy is blocked up someplace. We are Energy Beings and sometimes the energy can get stuck, kind of like a power outage or a brown out. There are many modalities that can help get the energy moving again. Modalities like Eden Energy Medicine, EFT or Rhanni Celestial Healing. The key is to move the energy, to get it flowing again. To open the subconscious up to love, grace, joy and gratitude. We have learned about many great foods that can help us lead and maintain a healthy body. But there is another step that is so important and many just as important if not more important than what we eat. Yes it is important what we put in our bodies in the way of food/fuel but equally as important is what we put in our bodies in the way of thoughts. Practicing Mindfulness and meditation helps lower our stress hormones, which if constantly being injected into our system can lead to chronic disease. It opens us up new ideas and solutions and helps us to control our emotions. It involves a practice of gratitude which brings us to new and more reasons to be grateful. The more Mindful and grateful we are in our life the more joy we will experience. It is simple to start to meditate and step into mindfulness. Find a quiet place and quiet your mind. If this is difficult for you try listening to your breath. Breath in for count of 5, hold for count of 5, release for count of 5. I like to sit outside with the sun on my face (something about the heat helps me), I breath and just listen to the birds until my mind quiets and all I hear is the birds and the wind. Maybe you can do it in your car, maybe when you are walking. The key is to quiet your own thoughts, worries, the stories running in your head. Quiet the mind and open yourself up to the miracle of meditation and mindfulness. It can help you to have a Vibrant life full of joy and gratitude! You can follow me on FB & Instagram @myliferedesigned and on Twitter @coachvickiewash and at my website: www.vickiewashburn.com.

As we continue our look at foods that can help us to live a vibrant life, this week we are talking about some foods that help naturally fight inflammation in our bodies.Inflammation is a signal that something is going on in our bodies and can affect every part of our body from our brains to our skin. There can be redness, swollen, hot, to the point of feeling like being on fire and other painful signs of an injury, infection or some other issue within our body. It is believe that chronic inflammation is one of the signs of many major diseases. These foods naturally help control inflammation in the body as well as adding many other nutrients to help support the immune and other systems in the body.In addition to adding these foods to your diet, if you cut down on things like refined sugar, trans-fats, gluten, aspartame and processed foods, you can support your body to naturally fight inflammation.Have a beautiful, Vibrant week Boomers. You can follow me on FB and Instagram at MyLifeRedesigned, on twitter at CoachVickieWashand on my website at vickiewashburn.com.
Our Immune system can sometimes suffer and weaken as we get older. Many times this is because we quit eating good food. Many of us are alone so we just don't cook anymore. We grab a piece of toast, a cup of yogurt or a piece of bologna and call it good. This does not feed the body and help it to stay strong. If your immune system gets depleted, sickness will come calling. The solution is simple, add some of these foods to your diet over the course of a week and over time your immune system will grow stronger and better able to fight off those pesky bugs.Eat for health! Eat for a Vibrant Life! You can follow me on Facebook at Myliferedesigned, on twitter and instagram at CoachVIckieWash on on my website: vickiewashburn.com.

Sometimes obligations have to take a backseat to being in the moment or they should. My week has been busy and full of moments with my family. I am sitting on the beach in the quiet at 4:50 AM to record this show. I am 3 days behind on my obligation but being with rowdy grandkids and shy on solid internet connection has been my reality for the last few days. Sometimes obligations have to take a back seat for the moments in our life. A counselor told me once that I had to many "shoulds" in my life. I should do this and I am supposed to do that. That others imposed "obligations" and self imposed "obligations" to be or do something was affecting my life. I was not seizing the moment. I was not living in the moment. I have worked hard these last few years to change that mindset. As we get older, moments are so much more precious and important, because let's be honest, for many of us the moments are limited. Well actually for all of us they are limited but when we get in our 60's, 70's and beyond, we know that life won't go on for another 60 years for most of us. We also realize how fast time flies. So this week I have seized the moment and am late on my obligation. But the moments have been so worth it.Have a beautiful Vibrant week as we celebrate our nations birth with family and friends and all manner of celebration. Seize the moment and let go of being offended! You can follow me on Facebook at My Life Redesigned and on Twitter and Instagram at CoachVickieWash and on my website at VickieWashburn.com

As I have processed the recent suicides of Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain (who was one of my favorite TV guys and I kinda had a crush on him!) and all the other losses in my life this year, it has seemed there is a mass exodus happening. I know this is just part of life but it can stop us in our tracks for sure. It can make us feel like just sitting down and giving up. SO many things in life can do that. Sometimes it feels like life is against us.But listening to Dr Troy (Oola Guru) today, he shared 5 tips for a successful marriage. 1 of the tips was "if you are not working on your marriage, you are working on your divorce". It struck me that this is true for not only marriage but for life. If you are not working on yourself, working on your life, striving to become the best version of yourself, you are dying. You are not living. You are missing your purpose and so much joy that is meant for you!If you will take that first step, no matter how small, doors will open, resources will be provided, people will respond. You will find that God, the universe, life is for you, not against you. Go to my facebook page: My Life Re-Designed (@coachvickiewash) and leave a comment with what you feel is limiting you and let's figure out what that first step is you could take!Go to the Live In Gratitude Daily Facebook page for daily inspiration on having gratitude in your life for everything, not just the good things. You can also find me on twitter and instragram @coachvickiewash and at vickiewashburn.com.Take a step today to live your Vibrant life!
Fidel Forde is an entrepreneur, proud military spouse, and father of four children. He has combined his knowledge as an empowerment coach, motivational speaker, massage therapist and yoga instructor to help people get back in touch with their spark, kick stress to the curb, and have the energy to fuel their passion with the life they have, even if they're busy and don't know where to start. Fidel's energy attracted me when we first met at a retreat in Washington. As we age, balance becomes a very big indicator of our physical age rather than our chronological age. Fidel and I discuss the link between movement and mindset, how movement can help each of us to maintain an healthy body and a healthy mind and attitude. Whether that is yoga, walking, tai chi, or biking, moving helps us to stay young and vibrant. Joining others who like to move in the same way you do keeps you social. I for one struggle with joining a yoga class full of young 20 or 30 somethings because I am not one. I don't move as easily or as quickly and don't want to slow others down. We discuss how this is actually a feeling that permeates into other areas of life. How is your mindset keeping you from living your most vibrant life? Keeping you from moving? Fear of movement will age us faster than anything!SO get out there and move! This week I have stood by friends as they lost children, spouses and the leader of the company I am affiliated with. Each service was so different and accentuated how important it is to walk in our purpose and how important it is to believe we are created with a purpose and a mission. But it is up to us where we accept the mission or not. We all ask the question " Why am I here?" "What is my purpose?" We hear "God doesn't make junk" "You are not a mistake" but so many do not believe this. They let the voices in their head torment them and steal their mission for this life. God created us all for a purpose. We each have a mission in this life and life is short. Even if you live to be 100, it flies by so fast. So do not leave this life without walking in your purpose, finding your mission. God created us for worship, fellowship, discipleship, ministry and evangelism. How do these translate to your life? What are you passionate about. What is that thing that is bugging you to get out of your heart and into the world? If you look back over your life, what are the struggles, the losses, the hurts in your life and what have they created in you? How can you use these lessons to serve others? Go to my fb page MyLifeRedesigned and leave me a comment with what your mission is, what your purpose is. Not sure? Share that and we can explore it together! You can also reach out to me on Twitter and Instagram @CoachVickieWashor on my website at vickiewashburn.com.
As Mother's Day is upon us and so many share their thoughts and feelings of missing their mom during this time, what if you aren't one of them? I know I am not. Missing someone means you had an active relationship with them. What if you did not? I pondered whether to share my true feelings but decided it was more important to be authentic and real with you guys than to sugar coat how I felt for the sake of popular sentiment during this "holiday". If you feel as I do, know it is OK. First I would say be sure you have healed from any trauma or issue; forgiven all involved, but then you know what? It is OK to feel what you feel. In fact it is the healthiest thing to do. For those of you with awesome mom's, who are awesome mom's, God Bless you. You are more precious than gems in his sight! I celebrate you!You can connect with me on FB at: MyLifeRedesigned, Twitter and IG at CoachVickieWashWebsite at vickiewashburn.com
