It is NOT just a sports problem, but I think athlete are under more pressure because they have been "tough" their whole lives. It is hard to put your entire life into one thing and then see it end before you are ready to let it go. When athlete are retiring and moving on to another sport, we need to do much more to help them succeed mentally as well.
