Is GLUTEN Triggering My IBS/IBD Symptoms?   One of the main methods to manage IBS symptoms circulating the internet is to cut out gluten for a time to see if it helps.   It sounds like a good plan, right?    Substitute regular pasta dishes, pizza & breakfast cereals & bread products with more expensive, less tasty gluten free versions … AND … you’ll be good to go?   But let’s get real, it doesn’t address the root causes of IBS/IBD.   If it was the root of the problem, it would be an easy fix.   You would just swap out everything for gluten free and everything would be fixed in your body.   Here’s why it doesn’t address root causes of IBS/IBD.   FACT #1: A gluten free diet doesn’t fix the root causes of IBS because it doesn’t address gut infections, pathogenic overgrowth, dysbiosis, the gut-brain axis, getting the body out of fight/flight/freeze response etc.   In the article, “The gut microbiome and irritable bowel syndrome”, research shows:   “Recent studies have demonstrated that an imbalance in gut bacterial communities, or “dysbiosis”, may be a contributor to the pathophysiology of IBS. There is evidence to suggest that gut dysbiosis may lead to activation of the gut immune system with downstream effects on a variety of other factors of potential relevance to the pathophysiology of IBS…”“Furthermore, the diversity and stability of gut microbiota may be reduced in patients with IBS 18, 19. Recent data suggest that the community of fungi or “mycobiome” is also altered in patients with IBS and may be associated with the development of visceral hypersensitivity.” (4)   FACT #2: MOST gluten free products are loaded with chemicals that wreck the gut bacteria in your microbiome.   To learn the how and why and what exactly to do about it, tune into this podcast episode on the Gut Transformation Show.     Watch our Free Training to Learn More: jacobthurston.com/masterclass     Sources: (1) Journal of Organic Systems, 9(2), 2014   https://jeffreydachmd.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Genetically-engineered-crops-glyphosate-deterioration-health-United-States-Swanson-J-Organic-Systems-2014.pdf   (2) Entropy 2013, 15(4), 1416-1463   https://www.mdpi.com/1099-4300/15/4/1416/htm   (3) Current Microbiology April 2013, Volume 66, Issue 4, pp 350–358   https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s00284-012-0277-2   (4) Menees, Stacy, and William Chey. Here’s the thing …   Low FODMAP, Paleo, Auto-immune Paleo, Elemental Diet, Keto, Vegan, Vegetarian, etc … Elimination to the point of insanity is NOT the answer.   All that happens is you restrict to the point that you feel worse than you ever have before. It's like playing wack-a-mole.   Eliminating trigger foods is really the self-proclaimed “silver bullet" for IBS and IBD. What happens is that you're committing yourself to a wild goose chase. We know now that it's not "food related." The only outcome to this is your list of food intolerances and ‘trigger foods’ will grow to more and more foods.   Here’s the truth about elimination diets:   Monash University, the creators of Low FODMAP, have stated “The truth is the low FODMAP diet is designed to be followed strictly for an initial 2-6 weeks until symptoms resolve. At that stage, gentle reintroductions are encouraged by your dietitian to learn your level of tolerance.”   Individuals throw away years of their life trying to pin-point the exact "trigger foods". It not only exhausting and unsustainable - but it doesn’t work long-term.   Remember: following restrictive diets WILL NOT WORK long-term and are only a bandaid approach as they do not address the root causes of what is CREATING the IBS symptoms.   To learn more, check out this episode! When Kendrick Came to Us, He Had: Bloating - “basketball in stomach" Constipated for days at a time - never felt like he had a ‘complete’ BM Pain - Acid Reflux Spent thousands of dollars on Doctors who didn’t have any answers No matter what he ate, he had issues Put “everything on Pause” for years due to Symptoms Was so swollen at one point he couldn’t button  his pants  Was living “half the life I used to” Anxiety - related to food Body Aches His wife felt ‘helpless’   One of his biggest risks was to take his wife to Jamaica on a vacation where he could eat what he wanted.   After working with us for 12 weeks, his symptoms were GONE! Kendrick explained in his video interview: “I thought that I could not be helped. I thought I was different.” He explains at the end of the interview: “I’m here to let you know that it will work … This is definitely the answer. Man, my life is changed forever.” Now that he is healthy and free, Kendrick CAN take a trip whenever he wants and eat whatever he wants.   Watch his full video interview here:   https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=BzlZPUAJDL   Watch our Free Training to learn how we help people with IBS, IBS-D, IBS-C, IBD, Bloating, Constipation, Ulcerative Colitis, SIBO get to the root causes of their symptoms and get their lives back ⬇️ https://jacobthurston.com/masterclass/
