Description

Here’s the thing …

Low FODMAP, Paleo, Auto-immune Paleo, Elemental Diet, Keto, Vegan, Vegetarian, etc … Elimination to the point of insanity is NOT the answer.

All that happens is you restrict to the point that you feel worse than you ever have before. It's like playing wack-a-mole.

Eliminating trigger foods is really the self-proclaimed “silver bullet" for IBS and IBD. What happens is that you're committing yourself to a wild goose chase. We know now that it's not "food related." The only outcome to this is your list of food intolerances and ‘trigger foods’ will grow to more and more foods.

Here’s the truth about elimination diets:

Monash University, the creators of Low FODMAP, have stated

“The truth is the low FODMAP diet is designed to be followed strictly for an initial 2-6 weeks until symptoms resolve. At that stage, gentle reintroductions are encouraged by your dietitian to learn your level of tolerance.”

Individuals throw away years of their life trying to pin-point the exact "trigger foods". It not only exhausting and unsustainable - but it doesn’t work long-term.

Remember: following restrictive diets WILL NOT WORK long-term and are only a bandaid approach as they do not address the root causes of what is CREATING the IBS symptoms.
