What NOT to Pray For

What NOT to Pray For

2020-03-2619:17

Today we will be talking about how to get answers to your prayers 100% of the time. How we can find peace and rest through our challenges by not trying to change the people or the circumstance but by asking to understand. Truly, this practice has changed the way I pray and has changed my relationship with God.
Today we will be talking about the most basic element of life-- of health and healing. I am guaranteeing you are going to learn something about breath you didn’t know and why you need to know it. A particularly important episode for people feeling overwhelm, burden, and maybe like their responsibilities are literally sucking the life out of them.   Welcome! Today’s podcast may not sound the most exciting subject matter that we’ve ever talked about but really if I’m going to teach you about healing, how to heal your body, your mind and your spirit, you need to know the truth about breath and sooner better than later.   If you have been listening to my podcasts in succession, the last 3 or 4 have all been around the idea of light. In my intuitive mind, breath is a form of light. Where there is light, there is breath and where there is breath there is light. Where there is light there is energy.    Well I wanted to know if my intuitive concept of breath and light had any scientific substantiation so I of course went to my darling little brother, Jared, who I will tell you more about in another podcast but he is a quantum physics professor at Rice University, he is also very familiar with things of the spirit, the teachings iin scripture, so one of my very favorite things to do is call him to chat about the things that...well, that no one else really wants to talk to me about. He’s a literal genius and I always love to hear his thoughts and ideas   Today, I sent him a quick text. I said this... “I would love your thoughts on the relationship between breath and light. Intuitively, breath is a form of light but is there anything scientific to back that?”   He wrote back, “I can’t think of a clear SCIENTIFIC connection between breath and light. Breath is just a gas material particle that is absorbed by the body; light is NOT a material particle and not absorbed the same way.”   BUT then he said, and this is why I often will go to him over Google, he said “I CAN think of two things that MIGHT be related”:   Number one, “the Greek word translated as “spirit” in the Bible is often pneuma (as in the first 6 letters of the word pneumonia). So, in many statements made in the New Testament about spirit, which is also synonymous with light in scripture, maybe the word breath could be substituted. For example, something like “God is spirit” might be read as “God is light” or “God is breath”! How beautiful is that thought? And then he said, “I’d have to look at the Greek word to really know”. That’s the scientist in him but I think it’s brilliant. I don’t need to know the greek word of anything, because that just resonates!  Probably don’t quote Jared on any of this, those were just a “hypothesis” that has not been fully vetted but you can totally quote ME on that. I have the chills! Let’s just let that idea sit for now and as I’m sure more insight will come later. He said, “Breath is associated with life. When Adam was given breath of life, he was made a LIVING SOUL.” unquote So it wasn’t the body that gave him LIFE, it wasn’t his spirit, or light, that gave him light, it was the 2 together that created LIFE. I know from personal experience breath alone does not give us life. My son was on life support for 2 days, because he would not be able to breathe on his own otherwise. He wasn’t breathing, the machines were breathing for him. And while he was laying there, I knew his light, his spirit was no longer IN his body, at least most of the time. His light was with his loved ones, in the hospital, at home, and in other states. So breath alone does not give us life, breath and light give us life.  And I’m not even going to tell you what he said for number 2 because I haven’t fully wrapped my brain around it and this breath podcast is starting to get deeper than I wanted to. Ha!    So let’s do a quick little breathing exercise to illustrate something.    Sit still, settle in, just for a moment. This will only take 20-30 seconds. Take in 1-2 deep breaths. Inhale, exhale. In hale....FREEZE! Don’t move. Where is your breath? In your throat? In your upper chest? In your mid-belly? In your lower belly?    Ok, release the air. Just breathe normal.    My guess is if you are like MOST people, when you take in deep breaths, Most of us breathe the opposite of what we should. We contract the belly on our inhale and we bring in most of the air up into our throat and upper lungs/chest area. But when we breathe that way we are depriving our selves of expansion, which means we are depriving ourselves of oxygen. Truly, most of us go throughout our day breathing so shallow we our slowly suffocating ourselves—we breathe JUST enough to stay alive.   Now...let’s really quickly do another exercise.    In your minds eye, divide your lungs up into thirds and inhale only filling teh bottom third of your lungs, hold, you should feel a gentle expansion in your lower belly. Breathe in 2/3 of the way...hold....your belly and chest should now be in expansion. Now breath into the top third of your lungs, hold...you should feel some expansion in the upper chest, the throat and maybe even a little into the head. THATis a full breath.    Try just 2-3 of the those breaths on your own, not straining to fill every square inch of your body and getting as big as you can but gently allowing expansion in the belly, chest and throat FRONT AND the BACK body.   This is not just going to give us bigger, deeper breaths and more oxygen, it’s creating more space in that area of our body. More space, more energy. So many of us are breathing incorrectly. Or I should say, we are not maximizing the benefits and power of breath.   Let’s talk about a few more ways you can use breath on your healing journey.   In my amateur yoga classes that I sometimes teach, I often say the phrase, “Breathe into the burn”. When a particular pose or posture challenges us, if we are not conscious, what we often do is contract our body, particularly the area of the body that is stressed, we will clinch the jaw, which is an indication you are moving into fight or flight, from us sending our brain all sorts of messages, like “this hard”, “this uncomfortable” “i hate this” or “lm gonna DIE!” Ha! We tend to even hold our breath.    What kind of progress do we think we can make in this contacted state? So, this is why I love this idea of “breathing into the burn”. This is a very visual exercise but it has psychological effects. As the saying goes, “Where your attention goes, energy flows” So when we take our awareness to the area of the body that is feeling the stress, the discomfort, the challenge, and we intentionally breathe into THAT space, allbeit in our minds eye, with our intention, we are literally breathing life into that part of the body. When I breathe into the burn, I start to see and FEEL, my breath, or light, or energy, however you want to look at it, begin to soften, open, and expand, that area of my body. I start to actually feel some relief from the discomfort, it allows me to hold the pose longer, go deeper into the pose....and... this is how we make improvement in our yoga practice.   It’s one of many reasons I love yoga-- I really think it has trained me to breathe into the quote/unquote “burn” OFF the mat, where there is real life discomfort, day in and day out. In fact, my teenage daughter will often say, “why are you breathing like that?! And i don’t even realize it but I use my breath all the time to release stress and to calm my heart, which calms my mind. But even if you’re not a yogi INTENTIONALLY using your breath, on and off the mat, breath is part of the autonomic nervous system--a built in, natural release mechanism when we are highly stressed or emotional-- you know, without even thinking about it you might let out a big sigh, or burst of breath.   So,,,we can use breath to intentionally shift out of a stressed state, to soften heavy or hard emotion but we really want to make sure we don’t FORCE them out with the breath. In fact, some people don’t like deep breathing exercises because they struggle with anxiety and it’s too intense and it may send them into a bit of panic mode. I have clients who literally cant take a deep breath--almost like they are in fear of what might come out if they fully breathe. This is one indication of a life out of balance or even deep seeded trauma that hasn’t been addressed, which we’ll address in a bit, but what’s more important than doing  a “deep breathing” technique is just AWARENESS of breath. When we bring awareness to our breathe, something happens (well lots of things happen but this is a BIG one) when we bring our awareness to our breath, and all the sensations that are happening in our body because of our breath, we bring ourselves into the present moment. The PRESENT moment naturally slows the breath, makes our breath more intentional, which means you get more breath. Which means we get more oxygen. Oxygen is the stuff in which our body makes ENERGY and we don't’ get enough of it. When we slow our breath our heart rate slows and sends calming messages to the brain, which keeps the brain from firing off a whole onslaught of inflammatory chemicals. In other words, the present moment is where HEALING HAPPENS. Now you may intuitively, every once in a while feel like you you need deep, cleansing breath...do that. Even if you sound like a totally idiot, you might even need to let out a HAAA! Both are moving energy in different ways so let yourself be free with your breath.    I will have a workshop on Troop that will teaching you different breathing techniques so I thought I would spend the rest of my time talking about the emotional and energetic reasons why some of us constantly feel short of breath or we feel like we can never quote/unquote “catch our breath” but quite literally, taking a good deep breath, like I mentioned before. Some of my clients feel like they have a literal weight on their chest and... they do.  Yes, there
Very few things in life are actually black or white but that's not always how we see it. The problem? When we look at everything in the world as black, white, right, wrong, good bad, we become a people, with big huge purpose, that are now living in fear of judgement, criticism and rejection. We are unable to authentically navigate our way through OUR life's journey because we are too worried about disappointing ourselves, our parents, our boss, our friends, our teachers, and in some cases, our God. We can break the cycle if we focus less on being right and more on seeing  LIGHT. A principle that can also be used in helping our loved ones (particularly our teenagers) who are deep into the dark with chronic illness, addiction, depression, anxiety, etc. www.troopwell.com Schedule a session with Chelsea here: www.calendly.com/chelsearippy
This is the episode where you fall even more in love with Chelsea because she gives you permission to do absolutely nothing-- if that is the "season" you are in. There is a time and season not just in our lives or in our year, but in our week and in our day where we need to ASSIMILATE the entirety of our experiences. BUT it is next to impossible when we are wired up to believe "the more we do, the more value we have". In this episode you will learn why asking one important question, and honoring the answer, is where  progression takes place. This episode was recorded Sept 2019. www.troopwell.com Schedule a session with Chelsea here: www.calendly.com/chelsearippy
Hundreds of healing hormones and chemical reactions fire off and fill our being when we consciously connect with other human beings--hugging, kissing, intimate conversations, dinner with close friends. Most of us know there is real science behind the importance of connection but do we know what we can do when we feel disconnected from someone who is not in physical or emotional proximity to us? Chelsea asked these questions and found some surprising answers. In this episode you will hear about her healing story with her sister + she shares one of her favorite energy healing tools called "The Heart Hug". www.troopwell.com Schedule a session with Chelsea here: www.calendly.com/chelsearippy
Seeking to know eternal truths is one of the most beautiful aspects of our earthly existence but holding onto a belief like it’s "truth" is what holds each and every one of us back from learning, growing, and healing. We can HEAL our relationships by shining a light on the beliefs, assumptions, ideas, and perceptions we have created that (often unknowingly) cause destruction. In this podcast and with her "Light Heart" guided visualization on her website, Chelsea teaches you how to invite light into your life, into your body, your mind, and your heart, illuminating the truth about any person and any situation. www.troopwell.com Schedule a session with Chelsea here: www.calendly.com/chelsearippy

As Chelsea looks back on her life, specifically the years after her son passed away and her business had to be sold, she realized her health crashed because she wasn't actively adding to her light--she was tapping and zapping every ounce of her reserves.  Thankfully God, through His spirit and tender mercy, offered her ideas, 1 x 1, ways she could add to her light and heal her body, mind and spirit. In this episode Chelsea will also share with you how she uses an armor of light to protect herself and her children from darkness and negativity that is everywhere.   We sleep almost 30% of our lives and yet we often don't make the most of that time. Words have energy and energy has power! Did you know you  influence those around you by what you say (obviously) but also by what you think? Even the words in the books, magazines, and all the media you bring into your home, impacts how everyone feels. In this episode, Chelsea shares the first 2 tools that she learned, applied, and had huge success with, when she first discovered energy healing.
Living "in flow" is a mindset and a way of life that creates an energetic vibration WITHIN you, that radiates FROM you, changing your experience and attracting all the good things-- the right people, the right relationships, the opportunities, in the right timing.
Emotional processing is Chelsea’s latest passion. You know what that means, right? She won't stop talking about it! She decides to share a very important story of how her son reacted to the passing of his best friend and little brother. He took this event harder than everyone thought and the repercussions weren't realized until years later. Learning to acknowledge and allow emotion, is a life-giving life skill and Chelsea is eager to share!   We sleep almost 30% of our lives and yet we often don't make the most of that time. The term “the Universe” really gets a bad reputation with how often we’ve thrown it around but have you ever thought about what it actually is? How powerful it is? Now think about another question, are you truly tapping into all of it? Maybe not. This episode was created  so you can now know that the Universe isn't some abstract, woo woo metaphor for a magical, mystical force. It is real and it is ALL that God created for YOU to find and fulfill your purpose.  www.troopwell.com Schedule a session with Chelsea here: www.calendly.com/chelsearippy
