Hello, and welcome to another episode of The Wilderness Mind. A podcast about all things nature, well-being and being human. Bought to you by JK (Jennie-Kate) McQuinn of Where the Mind Grows Coaching/Facilitator This week, Host JK is join by guest Jon Conradi of Wild Mosaic. Jon left his career in business education to explore how he could understand and be part of the impact (in the space of sustainability and biodiversity). After a few ideas, Jon was encouraged by friends to follow his vision for Nature Connection - with a focus - not just on biodiversity- but people’s part in this connection story too. Asking the important questions like: “How can I create value, in a radical way, connecting people to place” So, Wild Mosaic came to life! This episode is a deep, vibrant and meandering conversation around wildness and connecting with Nature- shared through Jon’s personal reflections and his experience of setting up & growing Wild Mosaic. I invited some ‘big’ questions into this space and Jon embraced them wholeheartedly - leaving this conversation as real and as wild, as a square at the Wild Mosaic site. The discussion was a rich soil, but here are a few highlighted topics! Changing career course into the field of biodiversity. Is Nature too big? The importance of language in our reconnection stories. The joy of bringing life back to Nature and the value of looking closely to notice the small things- as well as the bigger picture. The pain and despair of rewilding and learning our own way in the wild. Chicken or Egg? What comes first, rewilding ourselves, or Nature? My (JK's) accidental procrastination with the ‘what three words’ grid reference, and the big question of which square should I choose? The biggest lesson from Nature. "How do we become bigger? As in, more conscious that we don’t stop with our skin and we don’t stop with our cities! How do we broaden how we understand ourselves, rather than how do we separate ourselves from” You can find out more about Wild Mosaic and how to be part of the land rewilding progress here sign up for the mailing list, or choose your own 3 x 3 square of wild to be part of bringing ourselves. In today's episode JK is back on her own for the episode as part of her solo-mini series, before we are re-joined by guests in summer 2022. This episode focuses on " Observation" developing space to connect and notice our inner selves. Too often we are hurtling through life and go to " doing" and "reacting" instead of first listening and sensing our needs, feelings and thoughts. JK introduces you to the filters we run in our unconscious mind and are worth noting and observing, as they can often cause us unconscious bias and narratives that may impact your mental health. Observation is the moment we take before responding. Connecting to the inner and the outer to enhance individual or collective well-being Just like natural ecosystems, practicing observation and receiving feedback from mind and body can help you to better self-regulate and self-care. Listening in. The episode also invites you to consider "observation" in the context of workplace well-being too.
