Description

Unwind with Poppy Jamie is a podcast for when you want to destress, relax and allow your mind to untangle. The show includes interviews with world leading thinkers from mental health professionals, entrepreneurs, authors, influencers and change-makers who will provide listeners with an insight into their favourite books, life lessons, advice and life reflections.

If content was food for the mind, this would be a highly nutritional snack. We like to say Unwind is a ‘pause-cast’ and each episode is a welcome moment to unwind and refill.

Poppy Jamie is a Forbes 30 under 30 entrepreneur, influencer, and rising star in the mental health and wellness space. She launched the Happy Not Perfect app after four years of developing the app with neuroscientists, researchers, and her psychotherapist mum. Matt Rudd is my guest on today’s Wisdom Wednesday and I’m so thrilled to have him. After reading his book, Man Down, I’ve been left pondering lots ever since. The book combines research with Matt’s own personal exploration about why mental health in men is so troubled and what are possible solutions. Matt is a Senior Writer on The Sunday Times, he’s an award-winning columnist and currently writes the column Man Trouble in The Sunday Times Magazine. He’s written three novels and two non-fiction books including Man Down which explores male mental health. The reason why this topic is so important to me is because I grew up understanding that men struggle with mental health just as much as women as my father went through many periods of chronic anxiety, depression and even now it can be a daily challenge to manage. Matt is on a mission to create emotional equality and I couldn’t be more supportive. He’s passionate about creating a culture that allows all humans to process their emotions, regardless of what they look like or identify as.Find Matt: Twitter: @MattRuddBook: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Man-Down-Unhappy-What-About/dp/0349424810/ref=tmm_pap_swatch_0?_encoding=UTColumn: https://www.thetimes.co.uk/profile/matt-rudd?page=1 Hosted on Acast. You may have read her books or you may have listened to one of the many interviews she has given. In today’s episode, we are going to be mainly diving in to Dr Anna’s latest book, Dopamine Nation and speaking more generally about the addictions that are so present in society and often go very much unnoticed. Those such as sugar addiction and of course tech addiction which many of us are extremely guilty of!Find more information on Dr Anna Lembke:Book: dopaminenation.comWebsite: annalembke.comA big thank you to our sponsor Athletic Greens. On today’s Wisdom Wednesday, I am talking to the fabulous podcasters and authors of Big Fat Negative, Emma Haslett and Gabby Griffith. I’ve been so looking forward to this podcast episode as infertility and the impact on mental health is a topic we haven’t really covered. Emma and Gabby launched their chart-topping podcast that’s entirely focused on the trials of trying for a baby. After realising that 1 in 6 couples struggle to conceive, the conversation around infertility was not being had publicly and instead those facing difficulty were left feeling isolated and alone. Emma and Gabby are on a mission to normalise and provide a different tone to the conversation and I am here for it. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

And just like that we're back and ready to take over your Sundays! I've been so excited to launch Season 10 - we've got some incredible guests lined up and it's going to be bigger and better than ever! And what a better way to start than with one of the UK’s leading psychosexual and relationship therapists, Kate Moyle.Sexual wellness is a topic that is slowly becoming more spoken about and with this new liberation spreading over the globe, I thought that there is no one better than Kate to talk to about this topic. A recent study found that nearly half of 25-34 year old woman complained of a lack of sexual enjoyment and another found that people in Britain were having less sex than they once did. These numbers do sound bleak but behind any problem there are always solutions and steps forward! The wonderful Kate works with anyone that is struggling with difficulties in their sex lives, particularly with people whose sexuality is impacted by the stresses of modern life. Kate helps thousands of people recognise their personal understanding of sexuality and sexual health and takes the view that all issues including sexual wellness have roots in psychology, emotion and a person’s history and culture. Ultimately Kate’s work is about helping people get to a place of sexual health, happiness and wellbeing. I don't hold back in this episode so it's definitely worth a listen!Find Kate: Website: https://www.katemoyle.co.uk/Instagram: @katemoyletherapyPodcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/the-sexual-wellness-sessions/id1527311547Image credit: Matt Writtle ---This episode is sponsored by Wild, the UK's number one natural deodorant company. This is another one of my all time favourite interviews where I speak to writer and thought leader in human potential, Peter Crone, aka ‘The Mind Architect’. I’ve been following Peter’s work for the last few years and it has had a profound impact on me along with millions of people around the world. He has worked with world-famous actors, athletes and very successful businessmen, yet what he teaches resonates with every individual. There are very few people in life who are able to sum up seemingly complex ideas about what it means to be human and make all the anxieties we face sound simple. Peter Crone is one of them. In this episode, Peter explains his famous quote: ‘true happiness is the absence of the search for happiness’ and why being at peace with the worst case scenario means there is nothing left to fear. He goes on to explain how we can only be free when we are in complete harmony with our current circumstances. It's when we stop trying to figure everything out, that we will find freedom. The product Peter shares is freedom and though you might wonder how an earth someone can sell freedom, this interview will show you how. His philosophy is life-changing and this is such a powerful conversation which I hope will help every single one of you.For more on Peter Crone, be sure to follow him on Instagram @petercroneofficial and check out his website https://www.petercrone.com.This episode is supported by OTO CBD. Dr Ramani explains behaviour that often feels unexplainable and we unpack gas lighting and love bombing. Hello and welcome to a very special bonus episode with a teacher, guider and my astrologist for over 10 years, Ruth Nahmias. She is one of the brightest stars that I know and gives the most sound advice. If you’re not into astrology, please don’t immediately assume that this episode is not worth listening to. I personally use astrology as a self-reflecting tool because it either resonates or it doesn’t and I think that the stars can often provide wisdom. Hopefully this episode will give you things to think about, point you in the right direction and just raise your awareness of what we can expect to unfold in 2022. As I’m sure you might agree this past year has been a hard one. We have had to navigate a lot of changes, there’s been a lot of fear and there has been constant uncertainty. So I think we’re all looking forward to a more positive 2022! Well done everyone for getting through this past year and I look forward to connecting with more of you in 2022! :) Hosted on Acast. Welcome to an extremely special episode to mark 100 episodes of the Not Perfect Podcast!! I began this podcast in 2019 and it has definitely been one of the best things I've ever done. I just want to take a moment to say a BIG thank you to all my loyal listeners and to all my wonderful guests. It has been complete therapy for me as I hope it's been for you. It has opened up conversations I wouldn't have had, introduced me to books that I may not have read and in all honesty it's just been heaven to speak to some of you and connect on so many different levels. It truly makes my day when I receive messages or reviews about the podcast! To mark the 100th episode, we thought we would combine some of our most listened to episodes over the past couple of years and share some of the fantastic answers to the first few questions which I ask every guest at the start of the podcast. Hearing all of their answers together just proves how unbelievably wonderful all my guests have been, they all have so much wisdom to share and I'm so happy that I've been able to share these conversations with you. Here's to many more brilliant guests and I can't wait for you all to see what we have in store for the next series!Wishing you all a VERY happy Christmas!Poppy x Hosted on Acast.
