Lotti Brinks is fresh off one of the best races of her career at the 2025 CCC by UTMB, where she placed 6th female in surely the deepest and most competitive women's field ever assembled for this event.AND, Lotti is so much more - with a full and abundant life around her professional running career, that she's cultivated intentionally over time.In this episode, Lauren and Lotti discuss her origins in the sport, growing up in Germany and the opportunities that running opened for her to attend college in the U.S.; how she ultimately walked away from collegiate running entirely and turned her attention to other sports and pursuits; rediscovering running years later, together with her sister-in-law, Careth; and the lessons she's learned about her perspectives and approach to training, competition, balance, and seeking joy in the process. If you enjoy this and other episodes, please leave us a rating or review and share with a friend - it really helps us out!Be sure to like, follow, subscribe to stay in the loop! You can find and follow Lotti at  instagram.com/lotti_brinksFind and follow W.o.D. atinstagram.com/womenofdistanceThis podcast is produced with support from More Miles Run Coaching. www.moremilestogo.com
Kaytlyn Gerbin is a legend of mountain, trail, and ultra running; a literal trailblazer for women in sport, leading by example and demonstrating what's possible if you're willing to try. She's been competing at the top of the sport for close to a decade, but recently took a full two years away from racing to undergo a major hip surgery and give birth to her daughter! The ultra-landscape has changed in that time, and Kaytlyn herself has changed as well.In this episode, Lauren and Kaytlyn discuss her origin story - from a Midwestern snowboarder to a Northwest mountain athlete; the time and process of learning mountaineering skills and safety; discovering trail running, and discovering her talents for it; how sponsorship, most specifically from The North Face, has changed her life and career; her surgery, pregnancy, and recovery; her return to racing (and winning) at this year's Cascade Crest 100; and what's next in this new chapter. If you enjoy this and other episodes, please leave us a rating or review and share with a friend - it really helps us out!Be sure to like, follow, subscribe to stay in the loop! You can find and follow Kaytlyn at  instagram.com/kaytlyn_gAnd find The High Route documentary at: https://youtu.be/IEIktuVt0G8?si=aneeAMFkkbBvuAG0(It's a must-watch if you haven't seen it!)Find and follow W.o.D. atinstagram.com/womenofdistanceThis podcast is produced with support from More Miles Run Coaching. www.moremilestogo.com
Haley Heinrich is a dominant sub-ultra trail and mountain runner based in New Hampshire, with an unconventional path to elite racing. While running is a common thread throughout her story, it served many different purposes along the way.In this episode, Lauren and Haley discuss her challenging childhood, and the role running played in seeking freedoms, building confidence, and also developing into a burden and expectation. She walked away from the sport for an extended period of time, and only later rediscovered her love of the mountains and their community through hiking - which ultimately built to running - which ultimately built to racing - and a rediscovery of the freedoms, confidence, and joy that running provided in childhood.Hayley's story is unique, and full of challenges and obstacles; but her path through it is insightful and inspiring. If you enjoy this and other episodes, please leave us a rating or review and share with a friend - it really helps us out!Be sure to like, follow, subscribe to stay in the loop! You can find and follow Haley at  instagram.com/probslostFind and follow W.o.D. atinstagram.com/womenofdistanceThis podcast is produced with support from More Miles Run Coaching. www.moremilestogo.com
