Haley Heinrich - Freedom, Confidence, and Joy in the White Mountains
Description
Haley Heinrich is a dominant sub-ultra trail and mountain runner based in New Hampshire, with an unconventional path to elite racing.
While running is a common thread throughout her story, it served many different purposes along the way.
In this episode, Lauren and Haley discuss her challenging childhood, and the role running played in seeking freedoms, building confidence, and also developing into a burden and expectation.
She walked away from the sport for an extended period of time, and only later rediscovered her love of the mountains and their community through hiking - which ultimately built to running - which ultimately built to racing - and a rediscovery of the freedoms, confidence, and joy that running provided in childhood.
Hayley's story is unique, and full of challenges and obstacles; but her path through it is insightful and inspiring.
