Kaylee Frederick - From Breaking Age Records to Breaking Course Records
Description
Kaylee Frederick ran her first ultra marathon at 14 years old, her first 100 miler at 16, became the youngest finisher in history at Badwater 135 at 18 years old, and at 20 years old will be the youngest competitor at this year's IAU 24 Hour World Championship.
In this episode, Lauren and Kaylee discuss her earliest interest in running, her relatable curiosity in exploring her limits, perceptions and misperceptions from inside and outside the community, the importance of coaching and mental health support, and her evolution from "finisher" to "competitor".
We also discuss her recent experience at this year's Badwater 135 at length; where she finished 6th female and executed perhaps her most personally fulfilling race to date.
