Description
In this podcast I chat about and explore the different ways in which new mother's can be supported in the 4th trimester (and beyond) so that they can feel empowered, alive and well rather than depleted, down and in survival mode.

In this episode I share parts of my birth story and what I experienced. *** There is a trigger warning regarding Birth Related Trauma. I talk about how I prepared for birth, my lack of continuity of care, confusion for birth choices, what happened post birth and some of my treatment (from both outside and inside the hospital walls) and how it has effected me long term. I recorded the podcast on Ngadjuri Country when visiting my sister. As I re-listen and re-tell the story, I forgot to mention that when I suggest the MGP or homebirth...this is from my experience. I 100% support the idea of women birthing unassisted and in their own power. Do what feels best for you. The NSW Parliamentary Enquiry into Birth Trauma (Australia Wide - started by MP @emma.hurst) is happening at the time I recorded this episode, but closes on Tuesday the 15th of August 2023. In today's episode I chat about making new friends as a mum and how I did not expect to feel introverted in those early stages, being such an extrovert before. I had to 're-learn' how to socialise again with my babe in toe, and it's been a really interesting experience. I give a few tips on how to navigate this if you are feeling a similair way and that when I moved to a new area recently, I used the app for mamas called PEANUT. It's like tinder for mums. I have made one great friend on it and I'm even playing netball again because of the friend I met through the app.I then chat about how important a good GP is and about my recent experience finding a local GP where I live.I also introduce the rad collection of resources I have curated for all the new mummas out there. It's extremely valuable and they helped me so much in my first year of becoming a mum. You can download it HERE for free! There is a bonus video edition (& audio only) where I explain why I recommended each resource. The PDF is also clickable and linked to the websites or books I recommend. I hope you have a beautiful week and enjoy this episode. Don't forget to follow, rate & review the podcast!
In episode 3, I share two quite significant things that have happened recently in my motherhood 'journey' to help me move closer to connection to myself and to my loved ones and becoming more aligned with the person I want to be. Let me know what you think and what you will do in the future to help connect more deeply with yourself and your loved ones. I do acknowledge that this ep is layered with privilege and may bring up some negative/uncomfortable feelings for people. In this episode I share 12 (or more) of the lesson's I learnt in the first 12 months of being a mother. From doing what feels right for you to how your relationships will change, I cover a number of different topics which in the end, could probably have their own podcast episode. The book (audiobook) I refer to is the Postnatal Depletion Cure by Dr. Oscar SellerachI listen to it on Audible but here is a link to the hardcopy from Booktopia: https://www.booktopia.com.au/the-postnatal-depletion-cure-dr-oscar-serrallach/book/9780733640322.htmlI also cover if things are feeling really overwhelmed and the ability to control your emotions has started to negatively effect your life, to seek professional help from a counsellor/therapist/psychologist. I have included PANDA's information below. This is the first episode of The Connected Mother and I couldn't be more excited. This has been on my heart for a while now and it feels great to have it out in the world after recently celebrating my first year of being a mother and the 1st birthday of my beautiful daughter. In this episode, I explain who I am, what I do and the 'WHY' of the poddy and what my hopes are for it (and for you listening). If you enjoyed the episode, I would appreciate you giving it a review if you have a moment and make sure you subscribe too (and share it with your other mum friends). You can find me @theconnectioncove on social media. Follow on as I transition towards creating more content/courses for all the new mummas out there. You're my inspiration and doing an awesome job. Thankyou for being here.
