One of the greatest landmarks of today’s world is the Eiffel Tower of Paris, France. In this series we will go into the details of its construction and what drove the undertaking of such an immense project. We also get to take a look at the great engineer Gustave Eiffel and his company and how they formulated the design, construction, and implementation of the tower. An average person seeing a picture of the Eiffel Tower today will quickly recognize it and think of Paris. The structure has been standing for over 100 years and has been featured in countless books, movies, and major events and is well known throughout the world. Let’s go into the details of how this great addition to the Paris skyline came into being.
In part 3, we will be going into the construction of the ingenious elevator system that the tower will employ to ferry passengers from the bottom to the grand view at the top. It is a race against time as the date of the Paris Exposition Universalle grand opening on March 31st 1889 draws nearer while the Tower is yet to be completed.
