Disclaimer: This episode discusses topics such as sexual abuse and suicide. Please take care of yourself while listening and seek support if you need it.
We are joined in this episode with Larry Ruhl, author of Breaking the Ruhls, a courageously authentic memoir of his journey through childhood sexual abuse and complex trauma. Larry shares insights into confronting shame, the challenges of recovery from addiction, and the need to break silence. We explore how shame fuels addiction, why we need process it, and not just survive it, and how confronting the reality of our pain can lead us to healing and, ultimately, meaning by serving others.
Larry Ruhl serves as a board member for Taking Back Ourselves, which facilitates weekends of recovery for female survivors of sexual abuse, and is a registered speaker with the RAINN network (Rape Abuse Incest National Network). He also previously served as a board member at Male Survivor.

Whether you're just starting out or you've been in recovery for a while, we invite you to join us in our journey as we explore and find our way home. We are both Fellows in many recovery programmes, but we do not represent nor do we speak for any 12-Step Fellowship.Music: Funk in the Trunk by Shane Ivers
