04 Great Dane Brings Radical Vulnerability
Description
This month, your KPF Podcast hosts Denise Miller and E.T. have the great honor of speaking with Dana M. Hudson (she/her or them/they), also known as Great Dane.
In every story, passage, poem and conversation, this local poet and national slam performer disarms her company through unflinching truth.
In this interview, Dana speaks about their multi-genre writing that all starts and ends in vulnerability. They also explain how their love of words came through a childhood in the Jehovah’s Witness church.
Trigger warning: suicide is discussed in this episode. There are also a handful of swear words.
Poems read: “It’s okay to believe in yourself”, “Spoken Word Poetry”, “Suicidal Conversations” and “Dear Mom”. Many of these poems appear in her book of poems and essays, Testimony, available on Amazon or at RAWK.
Dana is also the organizer of a community arts series called “For the Good” that happens every third Thursday at Rootead.
Exciting News: Dana is up for national awards. To vote for them, her slam team, Retort United, or “For the Good” in the NATIONAL SPOKEN WORD AWARDS 2018, visit this link and place your vote!
