And Abraham went and took the ram and offered it up as a burnt offering instead of his son. So Abraham called the name of that place, “The Lord will provide”; as it is said to this day, “On the mount of the Lord it shall be provided.” -Gen 22:13-15
Why "Provision in the Thicket"? Genesis 22, the story of Abraham willing to offer Isaac—his only son—only for God to step in and provide the ram, is a story of the gospel. God has definitively provided His Only Son for our salvation. He has provided His Word as the means to know His will. He has provided the Church as the vehicle to carry the Great Commission to the nations.
