2: Andy Dockerty
Description
This week Liz and Becky are joined by Andy Dockerty who is the Managing Director of Adlib. Adlib is a lighting, sound and visuals hire, sales and installations company who have seen all of their current and future work disappear overnight due to lockdown. Andy built Adlib from the ground up and the company now employs over 160 full time members of staff and works on large scale events including many international music tours and large festivals. He has also been a key organiser for the action group #WeMakeEvents. We talk about how he built Adlib from just him and a PA system in a transit van to being the industry leader it is today, we discuss #WeMakeEvents and we delve into what draws people into the technical and production side of the industry and the skills and passion it takes.
The Voices Project is a series of interviews with people from all across the creative industries who are being affected by the pandemic, brought to you by March for The Arts. We discuss how these professionals got into the arts and what the arts means to them; how their work is being affected by ongoing restrictions; how useful help has been from the government and what they see as the way forwards.
