270: Carrie with Ami Canaan Mann
Update: 2025-03-26

Description
Writer/Director Ami Canaan Mann (Texas Killing Fields, the upcoming Audrey's Children) happens to be a big Stephen King fan and graciously gave us her time to come on and talk about King's very first hit: Carrie.
We dive into the book more than the movie this time around, but there's plenty of talk about Brian De Palma's outstanding adaptation as well. We point out a lot of the differences in the book versus the adaptation and put the powerful character of Carrie White under a microscope to really examine what makes her so vivid that she almost reaches out of the page at the reader.
This episode is sponsored by A24's Death of a Unicorn, a new horror comedy hitting theaters March 28th.
