1. Get a trim before protective styling: Start summer with a trim. Hair really does grow faster in the summer. That's because there are more hairs in the anagen, or growing, stage during late spring and summer than in the dead of winter.

2. Shield your strands from the sun: Use products like oils, creams and gels. If you’re spending lots of time in the sun, wear a hat to protect your hair and face.

3. Saturate strands before taking a dip: Wet and saturate your hair with leave-in conditioner before swimming. After the swim, rinse your hair with water, this will eliminate your hair absorbing salt water and chemicals from the pool.

4. Use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner combo: Moisture is key to the Summer, so make sure your hair is hydrated.

5. Give heat tools a rest: Skip the heat altogether and opt for protective styles or low maintenance styles.
