If your hair is drenched with clean water or leave-in conditioner, it won't absorb as much saltwater or pool chemicals. It's also a good idea to try to rinse your hair after a swim. If there isn't a shower nearby, keep a spray bottle filled with fresh water.

Summer hair care steps before the beach or pool:

1. Wet hair with water or spray with water

2. Saturate hair with a leave-conditioner

Summer hair care steps after the beach or pool:

1. Rinse hair with water and with a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner (Product recommendations: Almond & Shea Butter Moisturizing Shampoo and Thirsty Kurls Leave-in Conditioner).

Hairstyle recommendations:

- Keep the hair up and protected: Ponytails, braids or twists. Wear a hat, swim cap or scarf to the protect the hair.
