57. Social And Emotional Learning with Griffin Gervais
Update: 2023-11-23
Description
On this episode of Beyond The Limit I am talking with Griffin Gervais. Griffin is the founder of Come Home where his vision is to unlock human potential, empower connection, and transform together through emotional intelligence. Griffin is a former school administrator who has dedicated his career to promoting emotional intelligence in education and beyond. He has spent over a decade working to shift the paradigm of education from a focus solely on academics to a more holistic, people-focused approach.
In this conversation with Griffin we talk about curating spaces for people to work through their emotions. How teaching in the inner city of New York informed his early beliefs around social and emotional learning. Griffin shares how the education space is on the forefront of social and emotional education and research. He dives into his personal story. How he realized running on autopilot was no longer serving him. And how embodying this work himself transformed the way he showed up in the world.
Griffin talks about societal transition and how we are primed to move the conversation around emotional intelligence far beyond the walls of academia and deeper into organizations, their culture, all the way down to the individual. Much of this conversation is centered around the effects on mens mental health, isolation and how together, men and women can learn to tap into emotions to move energy outward, releasing what has been suppressed. Connecting to community around them. And how the willingness to build a relationship with yourself is foundational to finding a home within.
I hope you enjoy this episode with Griffin.
